We kick off 2012 in style with an EP from Frank Haag - Amsterdam's diamond in the rough and undoubtedly one of the artists to watch very closely this year. Readers of our blog will be familiar with the name; last year his 'Tales of the Burning Range Rovers' EP on Serialism made a strong [...]
One of our favourite Russian ElectroPop acts, The Tapeaters , have just unleashed a brand new single, not only new, but also free! Are you ready for summery retro Pop? 'Waiting For A Sign' is pure '80's Pop, of the smooth variety. The kind quaffed haired young dudes in flecked suit jackets would perform on Top Of The Pops around the middle of the decade. It's a fun, catchy tune with enough groove to get you moving on the dancefloor and enough crooned vocals to be radio friendly. The 'Luncay Mix' keeps the '80's feel but chunks [...]
O.1 - The Glass Trees Last night I chatted to Crack In The Road founder Josh about 0.1 and why on Earth he remained under the radar. We both came across him yesterday; he has twenty or so tracks to his name (it was virtually impossible to choose one specific song to feature, they're all so good); he seems to be extremely prolific and yet, by the looks of it, the Australian is yet to be signed up. My aim this morning was to stop the chat and start writing [...]

There's nothing like a good scrub-a-dub-dub, according to Turn Off Your Television . Their track "I Just Cleaned The Floor" is not only partially comical, but melodically soothing to pair with your cleaning histeria. More Turn Off Your Television can be found on their official website . Turn Off Your Television - I Just Cleaned The Floor For more Songs of the Week from previous weeks, go here .
Even those of you living in a cave in the last couple of years have heard of Azari & III, the celebrated production duo from Toronto. Best known as their founding member, Alphonse Alixander Lanza III is an old timer with his earliest productions dating back to the raving 90's. On GTCM08, Alixander III flies solo [...]

Manshines, Fauna ZZK Records, Argentina Rating: 76 by Pierre Lestruhaut If you happened to undergo your teen years as an indie rock fan (with most of your friends being roughly into the same kind of music) in Latin America somewhere around 2005, then you probably were the kind of kid staying as far away as possible from all the dem bow and cumbia rhythms that could be emanating from any speakers. Yet six years after suffering at every possible reggaetón- and cumbia-infused party, indie [...]

August Eight may or may not have issues with authority, but don't allow the sporadically surly demeanor to distract from a profound talent that became apparent around age 8. Eight has been an outspoken opponent of self-limitation, and has never believed in stifling other creative urges. Distractions to some, Eight claims his music would be void of it's signature depth should he be unable to enjoy his alternative artistic pursuits. The primarily self-taught August Eight explains a conspicuous fascination with different genres and artistic mediums by recalling his travels as a citizen of the world; embedding himself amongst our planet's [...]

Dres (Black Sheep) & Jarobi (A Tribe Called Quest) are collaborating on a new album dropping in 2012. Here's a taste, "PTI" (Occupy Wall Street) produced by DJ Bazooka Joe.
This is a track off the new Teebs release 'Collections 01', released today. He doesn't view it as an EP or LP strictly speaking, hence the name; it's a 'collection of ideas'. "With this record I'm... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]
Not sure what to make of the new Korallreven single Sa Sa Samoa . It will probably works fine as part of the band's soon to be released debut album , but as a standalone track it just doesn't. Or what does anyone think? + Sa Sa Samoa Thank you Mr. Villumsen for introducing me to Blind Pilot . How on earth did I miss [...]

Buenos Aires trance-folk duo Bosques conjure up a humid, nocturnal commune vibe with this, the title track from their new EP. Shuffling guitar chords and hand percussion suggest ankle-bells around a campfire, before a whirring Farfisa enters like smoke rising. The mantric vocal chants begin and that's pretty much it for almost 8 minutes. However, as well as understanding the power of repetition, the band know hows to carefully ration the song's few chord changes, so that when they do hit, a warm fog of contentment is fairly unavoidable on the listener's part and by the time the song [...]

I first posted Mad Rad's music this past March, but since then I haven't heard much from them. While doing some Soundcloud searching today (I'm becoming a pro), I stumbled upon the page of Douster, a French producer who specializes in the Electro/House genres, and he just so happened to have a few Mad Rad [...]

It's September and Autumn (fall to the Devil's American readers) is making it's presence felt. The leaves are starting to fall from the trees, the birds are making plans for their winter holidays and the nights are drawing in. What better way to commemorate the end of summer and the start of the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness than some autumn related tunes. Go Try Autumn Leaves by The Best Pessimist [...]

How would I describe this track? Deep electro-funk pop? Another tight remix from one of my favourite emerging producers - Shook. Also of note, Louis La Roche's cloud has really been cranking lately, particularly with the sounds of his new side-project EWE, which appears to be a creative outlet to satisfy his yearning for some diversity..and a bit of dubstep. "Lingo" has a nice big rock kit sound, with all the crispy trimmings. I really like those vocal samples. > SHOOK FACEBOOK > LOUIS LA ROCHE FACEBOOK [...]

P olish electro-pop/chillwave trio Kamp! that we posted about last year here are back with a great new chillwave tune called "Cairo" . The track available now on beatport ( iTunes, Amazon, etc after Sept 22nd ) is backed by remixes from Moullinex, JBAG and Social Disco Club . Digging them all! Particularly the original and the Moullinex and JBAG remixes. They also have a [...]

Kamp! - Cairo (Original Mix) They have never been to Cairo, but they manage to write one of the most infectious songs of the past few months.
