concert review : Fucked Up , Final Fantasy , $100 , Vivian Girls @ Sneaky Dee's (Toronto, Ontario), October 30, 2008 One of the most stacked indie rock bills took over Sneaky Dee's last Thursday night kicking off a 'Fucked Up Weekend', as you may well know was a series of shows local hardcore act Fucked Up were playing at Sneaky Dee's and a few other venues over Halloween weekend to celebrate the release of their new album "The Chemistry of Common Life" out on [...]
posted by Matt: There's a great band out of Toronto called $100. They have a new album called Forest of Tears . I like them. I like the record. I just ate a medium pizza by myself, so that's about all I can muster on the subject at the moment. Here's a video of them recording their album. It's rad.

Well, it has taken me long enough, but I've finally started to get my Sappyfest photos and footage organized. For maximum ease of posting I'm going to separate my coverage into a writeup per day of the New Brunswick music festival. Of course, there's no way I can possibly give a comprehensive synopsis of every band's set-not to mention all the antics in and around them. Instead I'll give a brief rundown of some of my favourite moments and then let the photos, stills and video clips speak for themselves. We pulled in to Sackville, New Brunswick at [...]
I know we've talked about this year's Sappyfest a few times here on the hill, but I don't think we've posted our official preview post. So, uh, consider this that post. The fest takes place August 1-3 in Sackville, New Brunswick, and looking at the lineup , I have to think it's going to be quite the event. After all, the Ack and I are thinking about making the trip from Halifax to check it out, so that should be all the endorsement you need. No quite enough to convince you? [...]

Finally getting to see Eric's Trip was like a dream come true to me. As far as I'm concerned, they're one of the seminal bands of the 90's, and it's a shame that they never entirely got the recognition that they deserved. They always seemed to be the band that was highly respected, yet never quite able to reach much more than a cult status. Oddly enough, I ran into Rick White a couple of weeks ago. He was painting a wall on Queen Street. Very random. It turned out that this wall was [...]
