London, Uk, producer Maya Jane Coles just drop a new remix for 2:54's "Creeping". The single belongs to British duo self-titled debut LP, released in May on Fiction. Maya's take of the original takes into a dreamy atmosphere. Definitely an elegant rework showing her class as remixer, while putting her signature in this remix.
Stream: 2:54 - “Creeping (Maya Jane Coles remix)”

A lot of attention has been thrust upon the sister duo, Hannah and Colette Thurlow, from the outset when they posted an online demo of ‘Creeping’. A blizzard of press chit chat, signing to Fiction, being a favourite band at Field Day 2011, and a slew of dates followed. 2:54 can sit comfortably and ignore any hungry frenzy of criticism that seems to always lie beside ‘hype’and any instant interest in a band. They’ve produced coolly emotional recordings that string together all the parts of their writings in a calculated proficient way. The collection of songs [...]

photos by Colby Perry Most shows begin and end with the house lights switching on or off. It's an efficient way for the venue to notify the audience to head away from the bar and towards the stage, and then that the encore is over and the band is done with their set. On Thursday night, however, the house lights consistently stayed at a dim level, always enveloping the bands in a low-lit haze. For 2:54 and Widowspeak , this was more than advantageous. The first band, Piano Piano [...]
![NXNE 2012: 2.54 @ Lee’s Palace [June 15, 2012]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4344354_lg.jpg)
On Friday night during NXNE . I headed up to Lee's Palace for the SESAC Showcase. The first band playing from 2.54 . They are a band from London, UK. The music was indie rock with that doom drone sound. The lead singer, when she spoke reminded me of Shirley Manson of Garbage. I was told from someone that they sound like The xx but I didn't hear any similarities. It was a interesting set. [...]
It's summer time! Officially. Finally. And that means it's time to see some outdoor shows, some bands from your youth, and maybe even see one of the worst concept tours I can possibly imagine. Thursday, June 21 Van Hunt with Ren the Vinyl Archaeologist at The Independent You never know what you're going to hear [...]

It would be easy to pigeonhole 2:54 as being the xx's moody, overdramatic cousins. Both bands are from London, rely heavily on yearning vocal melodies, and have a keen sense of atmosphere that elevates their songwriting. However, where the xx cut their teeth on early '90s R&B jams where the protagonist eventually finds love after yearning, 2:54 spiraled deeper into their Cure and My Bloody Valentine records only to find the beautiful sounds of loneliness put through a reverb-drenched amp. The band's control over their atmosphere recalls both of those bands, but adds the unique twist of the [...]
Frank Yang It was sometime on Friday that, in looking at my NXNE schedule, that I realized just how Pitchfork-y it all was and for that, I apologize. It wasn't intentional, but there's no arguing that the balance of stuff I've heard of/stuff I was curious about/stuff that doesn't come through town all the time is pretty influenced by the online echo chamber. But to be fair, the options amongst my usual go-to of acts from the UK and Scandinavia was frightfully lean this year; like I can count them on one hand. [...]

True fans of music spend countless hours searching for that next great song, album or artist, whether it be online or in a local record shop. The beautiful thing about music in today’s age is that technology has created an infinite supply of great music that is available to us at the click of a mouse. How perfect is that? We can discover a brand new artist on the opposite side of the globe in seconds without a radio or a music television channel. It only makes sense that a website so dedicated to this gorgeous universe of music would [...]

Photo credit: Karp Mercury Lounge had a busy Monday night this week with Indian Rebound, The Denzels, Widowspeak and 2:54 all talking the stage. With rare, if not unheard of, punctuality, each band played a good 45-minute set without much fuss, but with more than a little fan fare. Indian Rebound (@indianrebound), the rock group made of native teen New Yorkers, started the night with their own brand of indie rock. While their stage presence betrays their age (they aren’t quite [...]
The slow drone of 2:54 on stage seemed to take their shoegaze style a little too literally at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory.
