The first time I heard of 310 was via the Aquarius Records New Arrivals list. This was a few years ago, and I really loved the description of Nothing To See Here. I was very into field recordings at the time, so I would scour the AQ database for any release that contained "field recording" [...]
It's been an adventurous weekend. Two birthday parties on back-to-back nights (I remained sober! Give me my 48-hour chip!). Pretty much everyone I know was drunk from 5pm on Friday until, well, they're still drunk right now. And none of them have to work tomorrow so they'll probably keep raging through the night! I just [...]
Friends, Invalids, Basement-dwelling agoraphobics, lend me your ears! It's time for another Sunday Mix Tape, and have I ever got "the goods" for you. You've probably been asking yourselves why I am not posting daily MP3s anymore, or why the treasures from my collector's slum have been few and far between these past few weeks. The reason is, I've been advised to watch what I post in regards to the music I often share here. Cryptic, yes, but I am not really one to test boundaries. So until further notice there might be less music than many of you click [...]
RULES for uninitiated noobs : With roughly 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I'll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. This week I am using songs from Ilya's CD collection. He's sick right now, so I'm sitting only kind-of next to him, and drinking a stiff Emergen-C cocktail. It tastes like ass but hopefully I won't get [...]

I'm not sure how many of you have been reading this page for a while, but some of you may remember last summer's "The Great Chili Cook-off That Never Was" . 368 days ago, I tried to attend the Beverly Hills Farmer's Market Chili Cook-off. I showed up too late, and lamented my misfortunate for longer than I should have considering I didn't have a job or anything to do that day anyway. Nevertheless, when I saw this past week that somebody had Google'd "Beverly Hills Farmers Market Chili Cook-off", I got to thinking that maybe it was an [...]
• The first official review of Futurama: The Beast With A Billion Backs has been published, and it looks very positive. According to the article, it's a much more adult-themed movie, but it will not be in the vein of Family Guy or South Park. The one problem I have with this review is that it hailed Bender's Big Score a success, when I found it to be sub-par. The story was fine, but it felt like they were trying too hard to impress devout Futurama fans. That's not unusual with television programs [...]

Why am I so, so tired? As I write this I have just awoken from a mini-slumber. Earlier tonight I tried watching The Polar Express with Nicci to officially usher in the Christmas season, but unfortunately I could not keep my eyes open, and missed the majority of the animated holiday magic. Not only that, I decided to venture up to the garage with Ilya and others for a brief session, completely shirking my mix tape duties, so this has all been thrown together with alarming speed. Hopefully it doesn't totally suck, you'll understand my somnolence, and give [...]

I hate doctors offices. The people are always much more sick than I am, and it makes me worried that I'm going to contract whatever illness they have. Then I spend three hours in the waiting room with these people, like the kid who won't stop vomiting mucus or the girl who turns away from me and sneezes every twenty seconds even though her germs are just being deflected in my direction by her hands. I get into the waiting room and I'm there another two or three hours. Then the doctor finally peeks his head in the door. He [...]
