The post rock world is getting increasingly crowded, but me, I haven't really gotten tired of it yet - especially when bands like 65daysofstatic keep figuring out ways to hack the formula. In this case, the hack is adding glitch...
Another Saturday session to recap today, this one coming from the UK band 65daysofstatic. I think we were all won over after hearing their album, "One Time For All Time" here at the station and it was exciting to learn that they would be a part of our roster of performances while in [...]

Sometimes when you are down and out all it takes is something little to bring you up. When you have been kicked down one too many times all you need is just one little victory to hold onto, something to claim for your own. It's not easy staring down the face of a mad depression, an ominous wall of self doubt can ruin everything that life has got to give. At times there seems to be no options, no clear path to happiness. In the face of the darkness, all you can do is try. [...]

SXSW times. It's time for me to recharge, dig new music and finding different sound. It was fun last year, so here it is again. This year I won't do it as intense as last year, and will start with a long list of avantgarde, then rock, leaving the songwriters for regular wednesday. As usual, I string the songs into a playlist. If there is request to do it differentely, drop a message. Right now. I will do the rock category as time of day playlist. This list. An appetizer opening. I like the lead song [...]
One of the bands that has been really pounding my eardrums of late, in a good way, is 65daysofstatic . The music could easily fall into a "post-rock" category but its easier for me just to call it instrumental rock. The bands current album, "One Time For All Time", is already old news across the pond actually. It was released in the UK all the way back in 2005 but it took more than a year to get it to US shores. Release in Oct of 2006, im admittedly a late comer to these [...]

I really hate Crawdaddy as a venue most times, including last night but 65 Days of Static's unique hybrid of post-rock / experimental electronica was worth the trip on a cold and biting February night. It was the first time they have played Ireland despite being from Sheffield in England and it was a stormer of a show. Live, they utilise electronics as more of a backdrop to their instrument bashing but it works. Occasionally, when the song warrants it, guitarist Paul will play Keyboard piano, while the bassist will twiddle a MIDI keyboard controlling Ableton. The [...]

Post-Rock is one of those genres of music that's easy to appreciate by hard to become obsessed with, just because the amount of change in what's essentially epic, instrumental emo songs isn't that varied. Bands like 65 Days Of Static are, however, testing the limits of the genre, combining post-rock anthems with glitchtronica to create something invigorating at some times yet entirely frightening at others. 65dos's latest album One Time For All Time was released in the UK in 2005 but finally saw release in the US in 2006. I'd [...]

Sometimes I get extraordinarily lonely. I know this is a feeling nearly anyone can relate to; everyone will be alone at some point or other in their life. Music has always been a great way for me to augment my depression. In my younger years, I would listen to emo whenever I got sick of life. Angsty teenagers and emo seem to go hand in hand. As my taste in music has changed, however, I have found myself shying away from so-called 'emo' music. I won't get into why; nearly all of us have made up our minds [...]

This song right here, "Drove Through Ghosts To Get Here," was my day. Bits of ambient noise, little wistful electronics interrupted by walls of intense guitar sound. 65 Days of Static - Drove Through Ghosts To Get Here.mp3 Sheffield, England's 65 Days of Static released their second album, One Time For All Time last year over in Europe. It's recently been made available in the states through Monotreme Records . You know what do do. Rock it. [...]
mp3: Drove Through Ghosts To Get Here mp3: Welcome To The Times website: http://www.65daysofstatic.com/ It's been ages since I last spoke of 65daysofstatic. I can't even remember if I reviewed their Motel Mozaique set back in April, which was my highlight of the festival. Anyway, I've had their most recent album One Time For All Time for ages, simply because it's been out for ages in Europe-last autumn was the release date actually. But it's [...]
