Stuarto and I talked a lot just before my show began and in the minutes after it started about the radio station he's been building at his house. He's dubbing it 1020Radio, and you can check out the (right now) super minimalist site he's running over at 1020Radio.net . You can also find it on Facebook . It's been a long time coming; the station is nearing completion and just about to hit the Internets. All goes well, and time permitting, [...]
Whether you're celebrating with a sweetheart, you're single and shaking your fist at the holiday or today's just a Tuesday, I think we can all agree that free music and sweet-sad cover songs are a good thing. And thanks to Valentine's Day, we've got a few to choose from. In honor of the holiday Hey [...]
Surprise! Here's a mix for November. I tried to scale back form the soul focus of the last few, but there's a bunch of soul on here anyway because, damn, the music is just so good. I absolutely love the simple, jazzy drums of Barbara Brown's "Can't Find No Happiness." It's 1968 and is Memphis soul production at its height. Asha Bhosle 's "One Two Three Baby" is my token throwback tune, on here because it is absolutely endearing vintage Bollywood, but also because a coworker of mine plays it in the office at least every three [...]
:: Apparently NME readers thought Lady Gaga was the best and worst dressed this year. :: If you're wondering how band's get ready for tour, just ask Titus Andronicus . I heard that Titus was coming back to Louisville in April after their in-store at Ear X-Tacy in March. :: When a music blog discusses the merits of Repo Man , all is right in the world. :: I missed Backyard Tire Fire when they came to [...]
As much crap as we give Pitchfork, I plan on going to their festival this summer, because it's very inexpensive and has a DYN-OH-MITE lineup . I have to say I'm extremely excited to see Built to Spill, and therefore have been sneaking them into my heavy listening rotation when I get a chance. I've also been listening to similar sounding bands, including more bands off Up records, the best being 764-Hero. Here's a little ditty from the boys. 764-Hero - Sunburnt iTunes / [...]

I feel like 764-HERO are probably best known for their release Whenever You See Fit which was a song they did with Modest Mouse. It came out as an ep and that seems to be how most people know of the band. That release came mid-point in their career though so let's go back a bit. In 1995 Up Records released the bands first single, High School Poetry . I absolutely loved this song back then. I must admit that on hearing it again for the first time in a long time I found it [...]
