Rapsody uses a classic Lauryn Hill line to tell her own story of education through the music industry on her new one, "Believe Me". The song carries production from 9th Wonder, who always provides the right space for Rapsody to do what she does best. Watching this video, and then looking back at an earlier one such as the collaboration she did with Mac Miller, it's easy to see Rapsody's growth as an emcee. This is tough. Watch it below.
The idea behind Jansport Strings is not based on it being literal, but more so in the figurative sense. As a kid in NY, the strings on your Jansport bag were a sign of power and presence. Kids would steal the strings off of each other's bags and burn the tips to prevent getting robbed of them once they got them. The song is a 3 minute auto-bio of me as a kid in Brooklyn and seeing more than my friends and I had bargained for. In essence, my Jansport strings tied it all together, seeing what we all saw [...]

I feel like the lord is constantly answering my prayers pertaining to this album. I just put up a post the other day about Sky finishing his upcoming album A Dream Deferred , and today he dropped the lead single - "Jansport Strings". 9th Wonder lays down a laid back beat full of jovial horns, and as expected, Skyzoo spits cryptographic rhymes about growing up with his friends in Brooklyn and "earning his Jansport Strings". Skyzoo provided some insight into the meaning of this track: “The idea behind Jansport Strings is [...]

Skyzoo links up with 9th Wonder on Jansport Strings . This track is a beast. You can catch in on Skyzoo's up coming album A Dream Deferred .

To hear Skyzoo tell it, he wouldn't have gotten into hip-hop if it wasn't for Native Tongues member Chi-Ali. It's a pretty killer shout out to one of hip-hop's most overlooked forefathers, who here receives a tribute from Skyzoo in "Jansport Strings". The track boasts some raw , brass-driven production from 9th Wonder and always-sharp rhymes from the Brooklyn spitter, who will release A Dream Deferred on Oct. 2.

The Idea Of Beautiful will be released on August 28 . Here, Rapsody releases this track with 9th Wonder on the boards featuring Raheem vocals and a verse from Ab-Soul . The soulful beat blends fine with the raps and the hook to create an all-around solid track that will peak the interest of those looking for some good underground hip hop. Check out the song below.

I don't remember the name of every female emcee on Bahamadia's "3 the Hard Way" at this minute. I will say after hearing 9th Wonder's friend Rapsody rock on this NonFiction song next to TDE's Ab Soul that you could probably lie to me and claim that she was on that classic posse cut. Hopefully her debut LP , ‘The Idea Of Beautiful’, which is slated to be released on 8-28-2012 via Jamla Records will be just as fresh as "NonFiction".

Rapsody debuts the first single "NonFiction" featuring Raheem Devaughn & Ab-Soul, off her upcoming The Idea Of Beautiful album dropping August 28th 2012. www.rapsodyonline.com
9th Wonder's protege and NC rapper Rapsody is prepping for the release of her debut album titled The Idea of Beautiful, dropping August 28th. With the release of her latest single "Nonfiction", she stays consistent with the 9th Wonder old-school NYC emcee production while recruiting the lyrical talents of Ab-soul and singing and rapping abilities of Raheem DeVaughn . The trio bring an end to that "bubble-gum rap" with some pure hip-hop for your eardrums. Ab-Soul kills the track with a sick 16 bar feature, Raheem's voice blends well with the percussion heavy, vocal looped beat, and [...]

Rapsody is getting ready to drop her debut album titled The Idea Of Beautiful on August 28th. Today she releases the 1st single off of the LP called "Non-Fiction", featuring Raheem DeVaughn & Ab-Soul. Produced by 9th Wonder. Ab-Soul definitely slaughtered this shit! Stream only for now but check it out below.

North Carolina spitter Rapsody is gearing up to release her latest project, The Idea of Beautiful , on Aug. 28. And we're definitely more than interested in the album after hearing "Non-Fiction". The track pairs up Rapsody's always-sharp rhymes with none other than Ab-Soul , who rips the 9th Wonder beat with ease. As if that wasn't enough, Raheem DeVaughn blesses the hook with some soulful crooning. Yeah, this is dope. [ via ]
