Check out "I Really Need Love" and "Winter Rose" in this post. The Bees - "I Really Need Love" The Bees - "Winter Rose" The album - the band's fourth - was released in the US on November 8, 2011 and includes a second-disc of bonus material. [...]
While having been out for a year across the pond, the fourth album by British psych-folk band A Band of Bees (The Bees, overseas) couldn't have been released stateside at a more appropriate time. Every Step's a Yes rolls and blows like autumn wind through 10 tracks, highlighting the band's strength in mellow atmosphere and harmony at most turns. Evoking the longing of the softer moments of American band Grizzly Bear, especially on songs like "Island Love Letter" and "Tired of Loving", A Band of Bees seduce with augmented, jazzy [...]

Music hasn't slowed down yet this year with lots of great albums released today. We should start seeing a decline in album releases in about two weeks, so buckle your seatbelts for our year-end lists come December. First on the block is A Band of Bees from the UK. Believe it or not, but Every Step Is A Yes is their fourth studio album since Sunshine Hit Me arrived in 2002. "Listening Man" was one of our favorite songs of 2007 . We can't skip over [...]

There's nothing quite like a fresh start. After releasing three critically acclaimed albums under the banner of US label Astralwerks (including their Mercury Prize nominated debut, Sunshine Hit Me ), British psych-folk band A Band of Bees (known simply as The Bees abroad) have moved to Fiction/ATO. Now after a year of availability in England, the group's fourth album, Every Step's A Yes , is finally seeing a stateside release on November 8th. Can't wait one more day? Lucky you, we've got a full stream of the album below. The [...]
The Bees (A Band of Bees in the U.S.) - We're not quite sure how a groovy (in every sense of the word) band like The Bees can make something quite so nostalgically pastoral sound equally as fresh and like today , man, but we'll take their dreamy psych-folk -- with all of it's early Pink Floyd, Love, The Monkees and Laurel Canyon acid strum-fest influences -- with the retro flashback attitude it means to invoke...released a year ago in the U.K., the fourth album from The Isle of Wight band finally washes up on these [...]

Very surreal watching the Republicans, Democrats and President playing a game of chicken with our economy. The Bees - Chicken Payback

It's been about three years since The Bees (aka. A Band Of Bees ) released their last album, ' Octopus' , which I was rather fond of, so it was certainly a lovely treat to stumble upon the band's latest tune, "Silver Line". Apparently The Bees are working on their forth full-length but no release date has been set. Take A Listen: Silver Line from The Bees Download: Silver Line (Right click on link and select "Save Target As" in IE or "Save Link [...]

Once again, I take a stroll around Blogtown.... Chromewaves has a nice review of one of my favorite records of 2008 up - The Submarines' Honeysuckle Weeks . He's also running a giveaway for the Canadian among you, featuring a pair of passes to the band's upcoming show on Feb 15th. [ Chromewaves ] Ceci has a great collection of indie/dance/rock tunes in her latest edition of Crime Waves. You may not have heard of some of them, but that's kind of the point. [ I Am The Crime ] Invisible [...]
The House That I Built and Other Links To Soothe Hard Feelings by Alex Carnevale Sketches of the new Yankee Stadium hit the news yesterday. I felt some satisfaction in knowing that I paid for some of it. Amazingly Rudy Giuliani, representing the city of New York as a lame duck mayor, agreed to pay half of [...]

I'm thinking this is more of what I had in mind for the previous post. Here are the songs that were replayed for days, weeks, and yes even months on my mp3 player during that bygone year of 2007. Yes, I realize that all of these songs were not released in 2o07. But to dwell on that would be to miss some of the great songs that possessed my soul at some point in 2007. Enjoy! The Hold Steady - Let's start off the list with a [...]

No time for love, Docta Jones. Here, chew on some bands with Band in their names: THE BACKBEAT BAND: "Money" "Long Tall Sally" I could have sworn I'd written about the movie Backbeat before now, but I guess I was wrong. Backbeat tells the story of the pre-world famous Beatles as they were still in their infancy, playing as a pill-popping bar band in Germany's Cavern Club. More specifically, the movie's focus is on the [...]
This week, like so very many before this, we try to find the coolest videos and newest videos from some of today's top indie acts. Last week, I dropped three in your lap and in the act of doing so, I was reminded of how very much I enjoyed putting t...

Check out this sweet New Year's Eve Flyer! Pretty hot eh? Julie at LAST EXIT made it -- I love it! So the idea is ANY music that was made during the seventies will be played -- so disco will definitely be a large part of the night, BUT there will also be a lot of other genres reprezentin' too! It's going to get ridiculous -- I'm talking: NY Dolls, the Ramones, Fleetwood Mac, Big Star, Rick James, Hall & Oates, Journey, Heart, Rolling Stones, Sly [...]
