
It was a little less than a year ago since we held our very first show at Rothko to raise relief aid for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. All of the proceeds from the show were donated to Oxfam America , whose efforts focused on helping the rural and urban poor victims of the storm. A Brief Smile played a special acoustic set at this week's Cross Pollination . I wouldn't say that I didn't expect to like hearing their songs acoustic, but I was genuinely surprised at just how much I liked them. It was a whole new perspective, allowing everyone there (that wasn't being obnoxious by speaking so loudly in the back) to appreciate just how clever those young boys are at writing quality songs.
