Start again I'll start again if you start calling wars Never ever meant to break your heart to bits Only meant to open up my shoulders Test and test and test upon our fight Hard for all, yeah! It's hard for all >>>(mp3): A Classic Education - Wartimes (buy here )

and here's a properly title tune to help get ready for the party on friday (but probably not going to be on the playlist at Talulla though): A Classic Education - Victories At Night but anyway - thanks kanYe!

Same venue, different night. The Wave Pictures. It was with a possibly quite unnatural level of excitement that I headed up to London last Wednesday to The Borderline for a BBC 6Music "Club Fandango" night, featuring The Wave Pictures . Arriving very early (geekish eagerness, much?) brought the advantage of allowing us to bag the ideal viewing location - as any of you familiar with The Borderline will know, one of those high stools in front of the little table just to the left of the stage: bonus! [...]

It was about time. My love for The Wave Pictures has been well-documented on the pages of this blog, but somehow I've never quite got round to seeing them live. It's not like Wave Pictures gigs are a rare thing either - they've always got a packed live calendar, and have probably played every small venue in London. But I've been absent from all of these until last week. And in a way, it was worth the wait. Before I got to see Bethnal Green's finest, there was another band in the way - one that [...]
Yay – ENTAKT believe they have finished recording the last track for their sophomore album . + Kunsten At Slippe Taget (oldie but goodie) Nay – The new Last.fm layout is downright ugly and the download function isn't working. They've taken a huge step in the wrong direction if you ask me. Yay – Celestial have finished recording their sophomore album . + Dream On (another oldie but goodie) [...]

Well, today we're off to Sweden for the Rip It Up festival - just to check out the indiepop festival competition, like! It sounds amazing, although we can't help but notice that they won't have any steam trains there. Anyway, sadly we won't be able to update this blog until we get back after the weekend. But don't panic, we're leaving you with a lovely interview and song from A Classic Education. And if that's not enough, please feel free to skip back and read some classic posts from the Indietracks Festival blog archive (who could forget the accommodation quiz [...]

For Against / Shade Side Sunny Side ( Words On Music ) Readers of the long-running indie/punk-rock journal The Big Takeover have likely learned to take the recommendations of editor Jack Rabid seriously, since if you read the magazine your musical tastes probably align reasonably well with his. So when you've got a band like Nebraska's For Against whose last two releases, not counting last year's reissue of In The Marshes , have been Rabid's #1 ranked review in the [...]

It's Monday and I'm tired. Plain and simple and I'm absolutely certain you know exactly what Mondays like these are like! A Classic Ecucation has just released their debut 5 track 12" vinyl EP. Logically it's named First EP and it features everything recorded by the band so far. It's a 300 copies limited edition and it can be ordered from the band's webpage . Of course you'll get a free MP3 download link as well. Did I mention that the EP is good? Well I did now! [...]

A Classic Education - one of my definite, absolute favourite new bands right now - have finally released their first ep, which they've apparently called First EP . It's really something amazing, dark and moving, epic and human at the same time. It reminds me of both Arcade Fire and the National, and I like it so much that I really don't mind giving it such big shoes to stand in. So, allow me to post this fine song once more, and think very very hard about how good this band are. A Classic Education - [...]

While you may not have heard of A Classic Education yet, they've already opened for big bands of the likes of Modest Mouse and Arcade Fire. While existing very much in the vein of the Arcade Fire and The National's orchestra style of indie - they have a talent for creating sweeping songs that [...]

Talk about being slung into stardom! A Classic Education , a band from Bologna, Italy, played with Modest Mouse on their second show. On their fifth show they opened for Arcade Fire in a city I've never heard of called Ferrara! There's a lot of videos of the July 11th show you can look up on YouTube. One may ask why A Classic Education has caught the attention of such big names. The answer is their amalgamation of Sigur Ros post-rock, melodic indie-pop, and that [...]

A real treat for the final act of 2007 on NBGL. ***************** MP3: A Classical Education - Stay Son (Bologna, 3:54 mins, 192 kbps) A Classical Education are expansive in the 'it just sounds big, the climax of dozens of ideas, that have travelled continents looking for a means of expression' sort of way. It's impassioned because you can't make music so well formed and frankly epic without pouring you soul out in this [...]

Got an e-mail in my inbox from Jonathan Clancy, one of the members of A Classical Education . While checking out their myspace page and listening to Stay Son (below), I noticed the band was from Bologna, Italy. My mind swept back to 2002, stop number 31 on my European backpack tour. What a great city! In just over 36 hours, I had the best pizza I've ever had, I witnessed a ferrari drag race a porche on the street, I got stuck in the middle of a anti-terrorism protest and I slept in a trail station. [...]
