Austin, Tx does it again! A Faulty Chromosome has created a debut album that sounds both cheaply made and intensely complex at the same time. Self-Released, "as an ex-anorexic's six sicks exit,..." is model for the sloppy, yet talented. They are selling the album through paypal for a donation, and recommend $6.66 to cover cost. A few thoughts: 1. I'm working for peanuts right now, I'd settle for cashews, or even trail mix. 2. I loved the Oscars this year. I've watched them every year for the past several, and this one was my favorite so far. The best overall group of nominees, the most deserving winners. Jon Stewart was born to host the event, and due to the strike, the writing wasn't overwrought, and felt less slick, in a good way. AND, who couldn't love when they had Marketa Irglova come back out to give her acceptance speech!!?! [...]

A Faulty Chromosome describes themselves as a charming mess. I couldn't agree more. Their sound is full of 90's indie rock strangeness, shoe gazing pedal fascinations, and lo-fi electronics. It all comes together in a rush of one part hazy nostalgia one part hazy reality check, plus the occasional guitar solo. At a guess I'd say 'Jackie O' was made for about $3. And boy do A Faulty Chromosome have a talent for stretching their budget to its limits. Of course having a sound like this would never have been a problem had it been the early nineties when lo-fi was rarely off well-informed hi-fi's. Things has moved on though and unless you have a producer with at least a splinter of timber to his frame you'

A Faulty Chromosome produces fairly engaging music that, while pulling from a variety of influences, maintains a fairly distinct shoegaze tone. At times a little offsetting, the band doesn't "pull any punches," per se, with their usage of several slightly grating guitar tones.
