Exclusive Album Preview: A Singer Of Songs – There Is A Home For You: A Singer of Songs releases his...
A Singer Of Songs just started a Youtube account . There are just a few videos up now (including this great animation that was done by Ariel Victor for ‘Road To Nowhere’). There are also a couple of videos in the works for tracks off of the soon to be officially released ‘ There Is A Home For You ’ album. Which you’ve all pre-ordered by now, right? It’s on vinyl and the test pressings sound magic (it’s also on CD and digital, which are equally magic sounding).
I just randomly came across a new feature that Bandcamp is developing: Fan Accounts . I came across it after doing an advanced google search to try and see if there was a reason why A Singer Of Songs 2010 album Old Happiness was suddenly selling a bunch of copies (I am being a bit loose with the word ‘a bunch’, but still, in this day and age when you sell more than one copy of something a few months after it’s been released - in this case, almost 3 years later - the “what’s going on, did Lady Gaga tweet [...]
asingerofsongs : Fourteen years ago I moved from a small Belgian town to Barcelona. I was young and I wanted to know pain and life and pleasure. Far away from the small safe life I had lived up to then. Far away from family and friends and all things known. I moved here to be ignored, feel less than nothing and start from scratch. Like one of my favourite songs of that time said: I wanted to go to the bottom and put my soul on fire. And I got what I came for. [...]
asingerofsongs : The water seemed to be as pure as water can be. The sun sparkled, the deep blue sky reflected on the quiet ripples of the sea, no more than five people lying on the white sand of the tiny beach. All this to say the situation looked pretty innocent in the least. Little did I know hundreds of little creatures were hiding under the perfect surface. Waiting for an ear in which to build their new home. Unaware, I dove into the water. Unknowingly offering them my ears. [...]

A Singer of Songs wrote a lovely little song for a lovely little video, the end result being the collaboration above. Which is kind of like a reverse music video (i.e. a song created for a video idea, rather than a video idea created for song). It’s also his birthday today… so be a doll and go buy some of his music so he can buy himself a cake.
A few days ago, Sean Adams (from Drowned In Sound ) shared a link on Facebook to an A-Trak article on Huffington Post about what was good and missed from Myspace. And everything he listed in that article were all things that hit home with me (and probably anyone who once experienced the excitement and community that existed on Myspace back before it lost its way). But one thing that he didn’t mention that I miss (and probably because he couldn’t of known) was how everytime A Singer Of Songs would post a new song on his [...]
That picture of the final countdown dinosaur doesn’t really go with the new song A Singer of Songs wrote, but it does go with the story he wrote on his tumblr about the new song: It must have been over 25 years ago. It was a sunny afternoon. Birds were chirping. Bees buzzing. We could almost hear the grass growing underneath us. Four tiny friends, we were discussing which song we would playback at the Playback Contest that was being held in our tiny town. One of them wanted to do Jason [...]
A Singer of Songs might not seem like a man of the digital age. But don’t let the beard throw you. He has a computer. Well, his computer is really old, but his laptop isn’t. And this song is a lovely little ditty about connecting with a certain somebody over the web. You could call it LOL-folk.

Being sick is terrible. I've been fighting something nasty since Tuesday. Luckily the worst was out of the way fast - after recording a 101 degree temperature Tuesday night, the fever subsided and I've slowly returned to a state that's manageable. I was still a bit stuffed up on the 25th, but by 10pm all that was left was sniffling and the occasional cough - my regular voice was back. On November 25, I decided to do something a little different. Not only would I tell a few stories about [...]

A Singer of Songs - Early Morning Light A Singer of Songs just put out a full album of outtakes, rarities and shy recordings, and this track is one of them. It is also a track that we´ll be playing together in Madrid tonight (with Benjamin Shaw and coffee&wine ). Maybe we´ll see you tonight, or maybe we´ll see you at one of the other nights of the European tour ? Or maybe [...]

A Singer of Songs - Shine Here’s the lovely new tune A Singer of Songs recently put up on his Tumblr . Perhaps this will be on the set list when we go on our little European tour? asingerofsongs : Some songs just pop out. You pick on the guitar or hum in the shower or wrestle with the bed sheets on a sleepless night and all of sudden there it is. Like an unexpected visitor who has brought [...]

A Singer of Songs - Ruins Of You It’s been awhile since I did a Tumblr Tuesday post. So here is one. Lieven (aka A Singer Of Songs) now has a tumblr. So give him a follow and in return, he’ll give you some songs and stories. asingerofsongs : It had been a while since something like this had happened. Life has been quite hectic and loud and fast. Too much so to sit down and [...]

Here is a video that Aubben (aka Craven Canary ) and Lieven (aka A Singer of Songs ) recorded back in the autumn of last year, a video that I have been meaning to share for quite some time. They recorded the track in preparation for their first show together, in a house somewhere in Tennessee. And then, a little after that house show, the three of us met up in the windy city. Oh nostalgia, where have you been? The song was originally recorded with Hollie (aka Tiny Ruins ) handling the [...]

Imagine a quiet backdrop of country, colorful and vivid. Across it, a soft acoustic guitar whispers a catchy finger-plucked melody. Tiny Ruins & A Singer Of Songs creates such a landscape with minimal accompaniment and deep, quivering vocals. "Little Notes" is the first tune of the duo's first release, an EP of the same name. It is haunting, light folk, both endearing and emotive. In these songs, Hollie Fullbrook (Tiny Ruins) and Lieven Scheerlinck (A Singer Of Songs) join together to paint a [...]
