photo by Andrew Boyle Although from different coasts, A Tribe Called Quest and The Pharcyde played complimentary roles during Hip Hop's Golden Era. Both were seen as alternatives of Gangsta Rap, and trailblazers for what's known as underground Hip Hop or back pack rap, back when neither of those were bad words. Amerigo Gazaway of Gummy Soul puts ATCQ and The Pharcyde together in his forthcoming mash-up release, Bizarre Tribe , a new mixtape taking Tribe samples and Pharcyde vocals.
