Random Mutterings: Sometimes in order to fit into certain environments you need to change your colors to adapt and fit in like a chameleon or really any species that has chromatophores. Hey, that would be a great name for an artist or album. Sure, stepping outside yourself can be intimidating but it seems more often than not you surprise yourself at your own abilities. This first one is from a relativly unknown artist from New York I believe. I'm sensing big things from him. I [...]
by bmac So as you've probably noticed we changed up our music player this week. The skinny being that you can now stream music without interruption while surfing different pages. We're gonna pimp out the player with download buttons, etc. but in the meantime you can right click the artist and track names to download individual songs. You can also get them all at once in the zip below. Change is good. We're pushing things forward. Gone are the winters of discontent... Grab em [...]

I received an email in my inbox a couple a days ago from A-ux who had some tracks he wanted to share with the blog. While I first semi-forgot about them and labelled them as nothing special, a second listen gave a new perspective to his sound. While I'm not going crazy over every track, there still are a couple of tracks I really dig, and of course they're available below. My favourite is his remix of Monosurround's Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock that speeds up the original and makes the synths just a little trippier. [...]

Staying true to his habit of delivering grade A remixes, Yuksek never seems to let us down. This time I admit hesitating a bit at first glance, but as usual he totally pulls it off. Booba - Salade Tomates Oignons ( Yuksek Remix) This tune from Designer Drugs is very intresting. I might be alone about it, but to me their previous beats have been all about funk, whereas now I think they're heading in the bangers direction. True or false? Well, see for [...]

Local New Yorker A-ux hit us up with some great tracks last week, and it would be a shame to let them languish any longer. They're pretty diverse, with "Journey to New Hope" being something you'd expect to hear on one of the old Magik CDs and his Monosurround remix being a dance floor banger. Most of his work his original and steams from his classical piano background mixed up with a solid technical prowess. You can tell he's got the talent and the ear, since all his tracks are [...]
by alyssa coluccio I never really understood electronic music. It usually ends up reminding me of the sounds computers make when they malfunction, or the way robots would break it down if they were musically inclined. Yet, despite the fact that I am one of the few who has not embraced electronic music in this digitally driven age, I've found myself completely transfixed by A-ux's breakbeats. JOURNEY TO NEW HOPE BY A-UX: [...]

The New York based artist A-ux , is deeply interested in experiencing emotional and surreal music. Inspired by the electronic compositions, he sets out to capture some of that energy and intensity with electronics and computer. From an early age, his classical background in piano and his experimental attitude allowed him to achieve a good balance between musical and technological aspects. While growing up with a diverse musical style, he tends not to draw upon solely on one influence. I've selected two tracks of this amazing artist. Check out his myspace for more [...]

I found the molodies in these songs refreshing when I gave them a listen the other day and A-ux was quick to allow me to share some with you! A-ux - Journey to New Hope A-ux - Neon Generation A-ux - Cocked,Locked,Ready to Rock Remix A-ux - Miss Bytes A-ux - NY Dreamer

New Yorker, A-ux , makes old school tinged dance music. I'm not talking about that drug fuelled rave crap. No, this is the kind of dance music you can unwind to and gently bop your hat holder. Kind of ambient. Kind of euphoric, and crammed with some gorgeous metallic synth work. He has an album out, y'know. It's avaialble at itunes . MP3: A-ux - Journey To New Hope DOWNLOAD [...]

I know I play a lot of videogames, it's just something i love to do. It heps me relax yo. Anyway, about a year ago when I was gaming my chair broke and fell flat on the floor with me on it, it just slammed straight down. It's one of thos you can fold together. But somehow something that was holding it together just broke, and just crashed and burned. But good thing I had two of those shitty chairs 'cause yesterday the second one broke on me, it's not like I'm heavily overweight or something. Their just really cheap [...]

I've had this post set for a while now, but for whatever reason it kept getting pushed to the back burner. I need to apologize to Auxes for that because this is a record you need to know about. As a general rule I don't care much for "indie" bands. A lot of them sound alike. Maybe that's because a lot of them come from the same two or three geographical areas and they're all following the same trends. I don't know – whatever. [...]

NY kid A-ux bangs into my post-box like a cluster of meteoroids on the pretext of having a tea party with me. After a bit of soft-soaping and ingratiating, I finally reached the gold-nugget-part of his mail and that made me keel over and let me turn seven cartwheels at a stretch. Yeah glamor boy, you got me! Song Auxes ~ " Burning Brighter " myspace plays: 7,115 mp3 download (via largehearted boy ) North Carolina's Auxes had to be channeling Sonic Youth when they created the song "Burning Brighter". Auxes is the brain child of Dave Laney who played most of the instruments on the new album SUNSHINE . bonus: "Brother" ( mp3 via marketingdepot ) [...]

You might remember Dave Laney from Milemarker and Challenger . Now he's back with Auxes , a project that is primarily his brainchild (with some help from members of Fin Fang Foom , Bellafea , Eagle Bravo and Sleepytime Trio ). I love it when non-hardcore bands can pull off vocals with an obvious old-school hardcore aesthetic, and Laney makes that work well. If that's also your thing, then you're in luck — the band's debut album, Sunshine , will be out in October [...]

Starting out, I was based in the live music capital of the world, Austin, Texas. There is a band worth checking out every night, from the big names playing Emo's or Stubb's to the locals cutting their teeth at The Parish or Mohawk. Here are some the best that I had to pleasure to notice. Most people know Spoon and Voxtrot . They are the darlings of the Austin indie scene. Instrumental sensations Explosions in the Sky are opening for Smashing Pumpkins. Okkervil River [...]
