5-piece Stereo Inn comes from Cologne in Germany, but it only took a few listens before I had to re-check this fact, because a band sounding this gorgeous has to come from Gothenburg or somewhere else in Sweden. As you've probably already guessed by now, Stereo Inn plays irresistible, feel-good and catchy indie pop with glockenspiel, tambourine, jangling guitars etc. that should please all fans of The Housemartins and Belle & Sebastian . The 5 track 2006 untitled demo EP is free to download [...]
The debut EP The Fallen Aristocracy by Northern Portrait will be released on Matinée Recordings at the beginning of the new year. Crazy is one of my favorite songs of 2007 and I'm really looking forward to hearing the new version/mix of the track. + Crazy Peter posted this one earlier today, but I thought I'd show the new track by US shoegaze band Aarktica [...]

Peter says it, Morten [...]

Since it's inception in 1998, Jon DeRosa's Aarktica project has been slowly evolving from stark, guitar shimmering drone to fully produced experimental grandeur. Since I'm feeling a bit oversaturated with all the recent post-rock releases, I'm focusing on DeRosa's first release, No Solace In Sleep . As the name implies, Aarktica's early music is desolate; created with little more than a guitar ( sometimes there are accompanying drums), the music seems to exist only to put the listener in a lull and keep him that way. Fans of Lift Yr. Arms [...]

“Song For A Free Williamsburg†by Aarktica which clocks in at 8:37 There once was a student teacher. She was gorgeous. Auburn hair with green eyes and a country smile that could make a Texan liberal. Thank heavens for that because I don't think any of us guys would have ever actually memorized that which she wanted us to if not for her visual pleasantness. But don't go thinking that's all there was to her beauty. No, her voice was also a heavenly gift - she possessed that elusively perfect [...]
