Abba just opened their official museum in Stockhol and as a tribute to one of their disco classics, here is the Cut & Paste edit that Swedish producer Martin Brodin did of another edit made at the time.

L'ansia.
ABBA were one of the greatest pop acts in global history, and part of what made them so impressive was their prolific output of hit songs. The foursome, made up of two real-life couples (Björn Ulvaeus was married to Agnetha Fältskog and Benny Andersson to Anni-Frid Lyngstad), churned out eight albums during their ten-year recording career before the respective marriages failed by the early ‘80s. The band’s songs chronicled the ups and downs of their relationships, often pairing misery and hopelessness with their big, flashy pop sound. In honor of the museum dedicated to the band that opened in [...]

There's a great post on Richard Williams' blog about his role in Abba's rise to world domination. It even has a walk-on part for The Human League, in the Melody Maker offices: “Sorry, Ian,” I said, “but I really have to listen to this — it’s the new Abba single.” A look of horror crossed his face. The two people with him swung round in amazement. They were Phil Oakey and Joanne Catherall from the Human League, then at the very beginning of their journey to pop stardom. -- [...]

During Tuesday's Breakfast program on BBC One, ABBA member Björn Ulvaeus made a tasteless reference to the Boston Marathon bombing after the hosts asked how the 68-year-old maintains an astonishing level of personal health. "I don't know, running is good," Ulvaeus replied, "unless you're in the Boston Marathon." You can detect the immediate awkwardness on the show, as well as the look of regret on Ulvaeus's face. But the recording artist doesn't stand alone among gaffe-making entertainers commenting on the tragic events. A more crude misstep was made on Monday by Anthony Jeselnik. The stand-up, notorious [...]
Some people just don't know how to think before they speak, and the ABBA 's Bjorn Ulvaeus is one of those. The Swedish popper was a guest on BBC Breakfast this morning talking about his career when he was asked why he looked so well. Well, I don't know, running, is good unless you're in the Boston Marathon. Jump to the minute mark for the inappropriateness ..
The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual event where each European member country submit a song for competition. Having been one of the longest running television broadcasts since 1959, Sweden's own ABBA won the contest in 1974 with "Waterloo," and they are back this year - but for another reason. Abba members Benny and Bjorn won't be entering the contest, they'll be composing the theme song, and they'll be doing so alongside fellow Swedish musician Avicii . The collaboration has been titled "We Will Write The Story" and is set for a live debut on May 18th, the contest's [...]

Down the back of Truman's Brewery, John Grant is tonight an omnipresent, his name inescapable as Bowie's The Next Day artwork was over the weekend. The walls covered in posters quite rightly advertising his splendid Pale Green Ghosts record released just yesterday, and his name radiantly illumined above the entrance to Rough Trade East, his is the queue which spews forth. It's bitterly gelid out, though the onetime Czar now commands an utmost adoration. A couple came over from Portugal just to see him sell out Heaven in twenty-four [...]

Abba : Ring Ring [Purchase] By far the most successful group of the 70's, Abba sold more than 370 albums and singles worldwide. It all began with Ring Ring , released in Scandinavia on March 26, 1973. Despite the catchy title cut, the album did not give any indication the foursome would soon achieve world domination. In fact the members of the band were all doing multiple projects at the time and no one thought this Abba thing would even be a permanent deal. Agnetha and Anni-Frid were pop [...]
As one fourth of ABBA , Agnetha Faltskog was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame three years ago. And thankfully the 62-year-old Swedish diva is still at it, cranking out quality music. Case in point: "When You Really Loved Someone," the first single to be issued off Faltskog's upcoming album A (out May 14 in the US). As far as dreamy, irresistible pop goes, the track ticks all the right boxes — and is right up there with the best of ABBA's classic ballads — thanks in no small part [...]

Late last year this image of four t-shirts featuring Celine Dion, Barry White, Phil Collins and Marc Anthony designs in a Heavy Metal style went viral because we metallers just love being patronised. Now, in 2013, you can buy some similar ones. Yes, for just $30 (+P&P) you can buy a Mumford and Sons "World Tour 18983 t-shirt or a Celine Dion "Beauty And The Beast Tour" t-shirt from Fab.com . David Ward, who is clearly not a "Beiber" fan, is the man taking advantage [...]
