[ Photo Credit ] I have seen these guys before . They were the first third of the Sound Team, Elefant show at the Black Cat in May. Did they play the following song? Was I smoking crack? I remember not being that impressed with Aberdeen City or Elefant; Sound Team kind of stole the show. But, Aberdeen City's three song EP, Another Seven Years is pretty good and it makes me wonder if I have even heard these songs before. Parts evoke Secret Machines, and other moments conjure Editors. [...]

I wasn't going to write about Aberdeen City because well...I hadn't heard them I guess. But I did get their CD and couldn't help but notice the René Magritte reference on the cover art. I popped in the disc and was pleasantly surprised to hear they sound more like Editors than anything else I was fearing. Minus the super-emotional vocals though. Heavy kicks and shimmery guitars? Check. Dark overtones? Got 'em. Aberdeen City-Another Seven Years Aberdeen City-God is Going to Get Sick of Me [...]

A fter doing this blogo for the last eight months or so, I've noticed a lot of the same names of venues tend to pop up on tour dates for different bands. However, I have never seen so many of them on one tour as I did when I took a look at the cities and venues for Aberdeen City 's upcoming fall tour to support their latest release, The Freezing Atlantic . Chances are if you are in a city that has a place where [...]

This Boston foursome seems to be getting quite the buzz lately. I would explain them to you, but I think this quote hits it dead on: “If you can imagine what it would sound like if the Strokes and Interpol had a love child, well, that should give you some idea... There are approximately 8,434 bands doing this exact same thing in Williamsburg alone - but we're betting Aberdeen City are better than 99 percent of them.†- Alternative Press [...]
I think a lot of people are headed to that Ratatat thing tonight. Personally I think this will be better. This won't be great but for a fairly dead night it's better then nothing. FYI: Rumor has it the free Sparks ain't happening. MP3: God Is Going To Get Sick Of Me - Aberdeen City

I cant think of anything useful to post while my mind is in 1 billion places at the same time. So this is where I will be tonight, drinking my little full-time working gal butt off. I fear Aberdeen may fall off that tiny little stage with the ruckus they cause. It shall be spectacular. Aberdeen City - God Is Going To Get Sick Of Me

Aberdeen City The Freezing Atlantic Rerelease date: August 8, 2006 Label: Red Ink (Dovecote Records) Doing their part to put more UK in the USA's modern post-punk, atmospheric alt-rock scene, Boston's Aberdeen City have not only adapted the name of a Scottish village , they've adopted and embraced a healthy smattering of UK influence. And with deep roots in Joy Division marshaled to the modernity of Interpol, the East Coast foursome is getting a second chance to expose their sound to U.S. audiences. Originally [...]

After learning of the video for the unbelievable Aberdeen City breakthrough single "God Is Going To Get Sick Of Me" through the nice people at Cornerstone Promotion (and Sonya Shaw), I made a point to email Ryan from Aberdeen City... and it went from there. A berdeen City is currently touring the US ( a few dates this and next month and then full on in October) in support of the re-release of their debut album, The Freezing Atlantic . I have to be honest and let you know that at first try, I shrugged off this album. But things being what they are, I have put it in perma-rotation on the iPod. The very thing that at first put me off is now the thing that I like about this record. [...]

I always forget just how good Aberdeen City is until I see them live. My third time seeing them last night was undeniably the best, in spite of some interesting characters within the crowd. Let me get this out of the way so I can feel better about myself. Please don't stand in the front if you are just going to yell in your boyfriend’s ear and then talk on your cellphone. And please don't compulsively take pictures of your friends while a band is playing 2 feet in front of you, that's for afterwards. [...]

Hot on the heels of a great performance last week here in Cincinnati at Alchemize comes the Lounge Acts session from Sound Team and Aberdeen City. It is striking how British Boston-based Aberdeen City sounds. Singer/bassist Bradley Parker's emotive vocals, the icy guitar riffs and the geek rock persona all conjur up thoughts of English, not American, acts. Freezing Atlantic , Aberdeen City's debut album, is a call to arms for better indie rock in the States. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of great indie acts here: Sufjan Stevens, Death Cab (still count as indie), and Iron and Wine are just a few. But much of American indie music tends to a lighter, more folksy slant. Yes, there are plenty [...]
Aberdeen City is a group out of Boston that just released their debut album, The Freezing Atlantic. I've been seeing lots of good things about this album. They remind me of alot of bands yet I really like their own unique sound. I'm for sure going to pick up this album.
