I wasn't going to write about Aberdeen City because well...I hadn't heard them I guess. But I did get their CD and couldn't help but notice the René Magritte reference on the cover art. I popped in the disc and was pleasantly surprised to hear they sound more like Editors than anything else I was fearing. Minus the super-emotional vocals though. Heavy kicks and shimmery guitars? It is striking how British Boston-based Aberdeen City sounds. Singer/bassist Bradley Parker's emotive vocals, the icy guitar riffs and the geek rock persona all conjur up thoughts of English, not American, acts. Aberdeen City is a group out of Boston that just released their debut album, The Freezing Atlantic. I've been seeing lots of good things about this album. They remind me of alot of bands yet I really like their own unique sound. I'm for sure going to pick up this album.
