F&M Needs Your Help. Have you seen or do you know of a band that have the same name as a footie team ? I've collected below some examples of bands that have football team names...actually I'll clarify that: Some of the these bands named themselves after a fitba club and some named themselves after a town or city. But when you read these names, because you are like me you think football. For example when you see the word Celtic you think of Celtic and not Celtic. See what I mean ? [...]

The Delaware, USA six piece released their sophomore album, Moonwink , last summer on the legendary Fierce Panda records (who have released the likes of Coldplay and Keane in their early days). Their new album has been described as a "razzle dazzling delight of feverish melodies, happifying chord changes and clever tunesmithery", so if that appeals to you, get on down to one of the dates below. Tickets are on [...]

The Xcerts have announced a string of tour dates for a full Uk tour starting in just over a week's time. The Brighton-via-Scotland-and-Exet er trio embark on a tour of some of the dingiest venues, all in the name of some good music. They've become used to playing bigger venues over the past year when they've supported the likes of Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, Twin Atlantic, Feeder and Fight Like Apes. Now, their first headline tour co-incides with the release of their debut album, "In The Cold Wind We Smile", which is out on the [...]

Howling Bells are one of those names I've heard before, but never really taken the time to check out. And from a quick listen on their myspace whilst finding pictures for this post, I've grown to quite like them - a sort of Australian rocky Goldfrapp. That's just from one track that opinion though, so I may well be way wide of the mark. Erm, so, I've waffled a bit more than I normally do on these things, but yeah. Catch them out on tour in February and March around the UK. Tickets [...]

Ah man this is perfect. Even though it's got nothing to do with them and the bands name is coincidental, the title of this track is the clincher. I've got to post it. I started this and wrote the above over two weeks ago, but because of me full time werk I haven't been able to get this one out there. Or any others actually. Give it a couple of weeks and hopefully have more time. In the meantime please bear with me. (Pretend that is a couple of days [...]

Tonight I had a sudden need to hear this song: Aberdeen - Sink Or Float mp3 (available for 7 days) It's the kind of song I only ever seem to listen to late at night, usually after I've been somewhere, had a great time and then find myself alone and sleepy. It's from Aberdeen 's first (and only) full length album, Homesick And Happy To Be Here , which was recorded and released during their second stint together. Aberdeen were signed to Sarah Records when it finally folded and [...]

Trust me, this is the future now... Sylvain Chauveau + Felicia Atkinson Experimental / Minimalist / Electroacoustic the constant skeptic says: "the track Aberdeen is haunting, experimental, and ephemeral... I zoned out on the highway and listened to it on my IPOD in traffic towards Washington dc circa 5am on a Tuesday.... countries, city names, and ghosts haunt the track and memories creep up from nowhere into this space-time from upper dimensional clouds.... I think God, Allah, Jack Kerouac, and Buddha must [...]

Ides of Space - Arthurs car MP3 Aberdeen - Sink or Float MP3 The Race - Feathers MP3 The Electric Soft Parade - If that's the Case MP3 The long Winters - Pushover MP3 Death Cab for Cutie - Movie Script Ending MP3 Art Brut - Direct Hit MP3 Bild: Cy Twombly
That Aberdeen album I mentioned a week ago showed up in the mail and it's everything I was hoping for. More dreamy tunes, more wispy vocals, and more jangly guitars. I've talked about them quite a lot in the last couple months, so I won't go into much detail, but here are a couple songs that exemplify what made this band great. Sink or Float When It Doesn't Matter Anymore The album is What Do I Wish For Now?: Singles + Extras [...]

I don't actually know a whole lot about Aberdeen. The two main members are John Girgus and Beth Arzy (of the Trembling Blue Stars). They released a number of songs on Sarah Records in the 90s, but didn't get around to making a full-length record until 2002's Homesick and Happy to Be Here , which was breezy, fun, and beautiful at times. Homesick If you only hear one song by them, it needs to be this one. It's pastoral, effortless, and sounds like [...]
