Product photography by Tsuru I know what you are thinkin'.... where's the lovely fine art photography? What's with the old bag with some unknown, yet slightly enticing items in it??? Don't worry, TSURURADIO ain't changin' on you, I just got something pretty cool & special to share (besides Lanni's awesome mixtape), an idea my baby came up with (goddamn, she's so clever)! As you know, on June 6th, I will be putting my cycling addiction and tree-trunks-meet-chicken-legs to good use when I will be riding 100 miles through 7 counties and [...]

: Our Favorite Artists and Their Favorite Love Songs I don't have a lot to say about this album compilation from Starbucks but AMAZING! There is an eclectic mix of genres from country to techno and these noteworthy artists did justice to their favorite love songs. Most if not all acoustic versions of the originals and listening to the tracks just give it a coffeehouse vibe (pun intended). Audio quality is great, so nothing to worry about! Get a taste of the [...]

New Pornographers front-man, A.C. Newman , has an undeniable gift for crafting engaging and epic tunes. This lead off track from 2009's Get Guilty is a perfect example of his ability to blend monumental flourishes with subtler melodies. Short in length, but huge in spirit. A.C. Newman - There Are Maybe Ten or Twelve Hear more at his Myspace page or buy a digital copy of Get Guilty from Zunior .

Last night was the season finale of How I Met Your Mother , and the show's protagonist Ted Mosby capped off the worst year of his life by deciding to shed his past identity as an architect who gets browbeaten by washcloth-obsessed goats-a leap that was replicated by Ted and his five friends jumping across their apparently very narrow side street, and on to the tricked-out deck of a neighbor. The song that soundtracked this mass Spider-Man impersonation was AC Newman 's "Prophets," which appeared on the lead New Pornographer's most recent solo [...]

Frank Yang It seems a bit ridiculous to say that I was in New York City on Friday night with nothing to do, but right up until the middle of last week, it looked like that was what it was going to be. Which isn't to say I would have spent the evening watching television in my hotel room... but that was certainly not beyond the realm of possibility. I'd been considering hitting up the Friday night show of NYC Popfest , despite not knowing any of the acts on the bill, mainly because Don [...]
Be on the lookout for fellow Lost watchers today, guys. They'll be the ones who can't wait for 9pm to roll around and will check their watch every ten minutes until it does. I decided to curb my enthusiasm for the best show on television with a quick mix to get us all read. It's [...]

Tonight's track comes from the Canadian singer/songwriter Carl Newman , and his solo project A.C. Newman . Like a Hitman, Like a Dancer can be found as the 3rd song on Newman's second solo album Get Guilty , released on January 20th, 2009. Canadian indie aficionados will likely recognize Newman as the primary songwriter for the Canadian supergroup The New Pornographers . If you haven't heard anything from The New Pornographers before, feel free to check out a song I posted from the band here . [...]
PHOTOS AND REVIEW BY GAVIN SNIDER Nearly everyone was sitting down when I got to the Jackpot, watching intently as Lawrence's own Andrew Morgan lightly picked an acoustic guitar. Morgan has made a na... Continue reading "Concert Review: Elvis Perkins in Dearland, with Other Lives and Andrew Morgan" >

Tsuru & The Bride are on vacation. In our absence, TSURUBOT4000, built from an old ipod, leftover bicycle parts, and a vacuum, has been loaded up with my entire iPod. Using a complicated algorithm & dense interweb programming, it will run the library through it's system and post a song that you should, mathematically speaking, enjoy... We take no responsiblity for any "bad music" or "enslaving of all humans" that may or may not occur in our absence... Love, Tsuru P.S. It seems to have taken up a liking to Clone High for [...]

Hey, I'm gonna review some tracks now. Ready, Go! MP3 Sunset Rubdown - Idiot Heart I realize that I've become programmed to love everything that Spencer Krug puts out but this song takes the guy's talents and general awesomeness to another dimension. It's amazing how easily he blows away anything on Random Spirit Lover (still a big favorite for me) with "Idiot Heart". The guitar! The backing vocals! The incredible attention to detail! It absolutely rocks in the most extremest of ways, the song is a complete rush. The last [...]

AC Newman at The Bell House (03/30/09) A mere two nights ago AC Newman and his band ( Shane Nelken, Shaun Brodie, Jon Wurster, Tara Szczygielski, Miranda Brown , and Nicole Atkins ) killed it on Letterman with a blazing rendition of "Like A Hitman, Like A Dancer", a mere two weeks earlier ( March 30 or an eternity in Internet time) they killed it the final night of their tour at the Bell House in Brooklyn. Set list, David Letterman video and more pics [...]

Early in the year when A.C. Newman's solo came out I quickly dubbed it the greatest album of 2009. Ever since, many albums have come along trying to knock Mr. Newman off his perch, and 3 or 4 have even been considered contenders. But it was not until Camera Obscura's latest release "My Maudlin Career" that there has been any serious competition for the number one spot. Much like 2008's champs Little Joy, Camera Obscura manage to make you feel both upbeat and relaxed simultaneously --that is to say it is both an album you can [...]
One Lollapalooza confirmed act (Bird) and one hopeful (Newman) both have recent video performances of songs from their latest albums; Andrew Bird , looking exceptionally Andrew Bird-like, performed "Fitz and Dizzyspells" from his recent Noble Beast LP on Minnesota Public Radio's The Current . Andrew Bird - Fitz and Dizzyspells (Live on The Current) Meanwhile, A.C. Newman , alongside a special guest Nicole Atkins , performed [...]
I love me some New Pornographers and I definitely dug AC Newman's solo album from earlier this year, Get Guilty . Above is his performance from last night on Letterman of Like a Hitman, Like a Dancer, which I feel suffers from a bit too much repetition. Better songs on the record, but this is the single, so there you go.
He'll be back in Pittsburgh this Friday with the rest of the new Pornographers for CMU's Spring Carnival. Here he is doing "Like a Hitman, Like a Dancer" last night:
Enjoy last night's performance of 'Like A Hitman, Like A Dancer' below. MP3: A.C. Newman - Submarines Of Stockholm
A.C. Newman makes me swoon every time I hear his voice. Not sure I can say the same about seeing his face. That place in my heart is held by A.C. Slater. A.C. Newman - Like a Hitman, Like a Dancer (Live on The Late Show) [link, Culture Bully ]
