Aceyalone has really been on a funk/soul kick these past few years. I remember his previous album, Aceyalone & The Lonely Ones , brimming with feel-good jams and sing-along hooks. And from what I've heard so far, his follow-up, Leanin' On Slick , follows a similar approach. This one's funkier, though, and definitely ready for all your summer listening needs. I haven't listened to it in a minute, but I maintain that Aceyalone 's 2009 album, Aceyalone & The Lonely Ones , didn't get the attention it so deserved. It was a well executed combination of funk, soul, and hip-hop with a slick presentation. Even without his props, Ace ain't done with the sound as his new project, Leanin' on Slick , follows in its predecessors footsteps. The title track, which dropped today, is on some James Brown, bandleader-type-shit. Don't be surprised if you keep it on for the next 10 minutes and find yourself in a better mood. [...]

John Roman's latest Revisions EP has been up for a while. Blame my tardiness on a few different obligations that prevented me from getting to this first. Again he flips 2 iconic Hip Hop artists' works into interesting and introspective dance music. John Roman is heading overseas for a European mini-tour. Looking forward to RVS 005.
