Another gem crafted from the loins of the majestic Labrador label. And while we're on the subject the same label has just released a retrospective of their first 100 releases. If pristine pop is your bag then this will go some way to packing it. Somewhat surprisingly Acid House Kings have been around since 1991 but have flown under the radar despite some admirable promotional campaigns such as
I'm still damn busy, but today I'll let the recommendations over at Last.fm guide me to some (hopefully) interesting music. I like the whole idea of recommending music to groups and people, though I do find it rather pointless recommending anything that you cannot download or at least stream. There's so much music out there, so don't expect anyone putting that much of an effort into search for something that might be interesting. After all, the next band offering free music is just one "click" away! Below some of the songs I've [...]

Indie label Labrador must be one of the best Swedish places on the internet. Not only do they have a sixth sense for picking up one great artist after another, they also have a large section of free MP3s to "taste" all those bands. They were among the first who realized that the Internet has a big influence in today's music lover's habits, and quite a few have followed their example. And that's a good thing really! So I've learned today that the label [...]

TOP 10 ALBUMS OF 2006 When choosing my Top 10 albums from 2006, I considered mostly what I actually listened to. This was a particularly good year for music - one of the best in recent memory - and a lot of great albums were released. There were plenty of albums that I liked, but what good is an album, really, if you've no desire to listen to it? These may not be the absolute best albums of 2006 in a critical sense, but they're the ones I spent the most time with. [...]
Hrm, My Viking Is Lookin' Rather Stout A few months ago I applied to a certain Swedish company some of you may know as IKEA. Well, I bagged a job and start next week, so to celebrate I thought I'd post a mix. This mix. The Scandimania! Mix. Oh Sweden & Company, for such a cold, cold region, what makes your heart so warm? Next to Australia, you're my next source of happy. In fact, if
As the Heat Wave in Johannesburg intensifies this week I thought I would offer you some icy tunes to cool you down. All selected for their soothing, refrigeration value and all intensely enjoyable. So to all of you in the mother city enjoy the cold, enjoy the rain because it ...

Are you one of the many fans who, much like us here at ThaBombShelter, lamented the departure of Isobel Campbell from twee torchbearers , Belle and Sebastian ? Well, you're in luck, because there's a band out there that is more than capable of tickling your B&S bone. The misleadingly named Acid House Kings have been making sweet sweet music from the heart of Sweden since the early 90's (I know, I'm surprised too), but to be honest, I'd never heard of them before about January of this year. With Belle and Sebastian's [...]
The Acid House Kings spielen fast perfekte Samstagmorgenmusik. Poppig, voller Sonnenschein, verwandeln sie Samstage, die sinnlos vertrödelt werden in etwas Sinnvolles. Ach ja, sie kommen aus Schweden. mp3: The acid house kings / Do what you wanna do Technorati Tags: the acid house kings , free mp3 , download , music

As many of you already know, I am an avid fan of the Swedish indie rock scene (or rather the Swedish music scene in general). Today, I have another great Swedish band to tell you about, also part of Labrador Records (in my opinion, the best Swedish label). The Acid House Kings make feel good music, the kind that makes you think of everything good in the world. It's the kind of music that is infectiously delightful, young, fresh-you'll feel a little silly perhaps but you shouldn't. AHK laces lollipop beats over the [...]

Today's theme mix is going to be a small one featuring songs about the days of the week. Yes, yes, I know there are many more songs about the days of the week than I have listed, and I'm sure you kids will tell me all about the ones you would've picked. So have at it. The Sounds - Seven Days a Week Etta James - A Sunday Kind of Love Tegan & Sarah - Monday Monday Monday [...]

The companion post to last week's live set from The Legends , here's their label and tourmates, Acid House Kings . I was woefully unaware AHK's 15-year history before the show was announced, but familiarized myself a bit with their self-described Swedish guitar pop before they got to town. Their brand of pop is a bit more pure than The Legends, a little on the lighter side, with guy/girl vocals and enough songs of love to give you a couple new cavities (just look at the titles below). They're damn infectious, moreso when [...]

The Charade följer upp en fantastisk debut med en nästan lika fantastisk andraskiva. Josh Rouse följer upp en av mina absoluta favoritskivor någonsin med en underbar sommarskiva. Katie är inte i Tokyo än, men snart så. The Essex Green gör mig lite besviken, vilket egentligen bara säger hur bra The Long Goodbye verkligen är. Mojave 3 kavlar upp altcountryärmarna och gör pop pop pop. Dixie Chicks motbevisar alla fördomar jag lyckats bygga upp på grund av bandnamnet med magisk stämsång. The Weepies vet precis hur man gör [...]
“Do What You Wanna Do†leads things off, and from its opening handclaps to its yearning vocals, it kills, in the prettiest way imaginable. It’s a classic song, easy and perfect, the type of song you could play for anyone in almost any situation.

Hello. This is Tom from indie-mp3 , one of many bloggers blogsitting for Laura whilst she is away in China. I thought I would write a quick piece on a band that is never far away from my stereo, pc or mp3 player! The Acid House Kings have nothing to do with electro, techno or trance. They are without doubt Sweden's premier indie pop outfit and have been making luscious tunes for well over a decade. Inspired by the English 1980's independent music scene they have blended this with a [...]

Now I have to be honest, the first time I read the band name " Acid House Kings ," I instinctually stayed away. In fact, if it wasnt for another post that showcased the above picture (minus the tweaking), I probably never would have listening to this sweet quartet from the abnormally happy region of IKEA-land. It took just a few listens to throw out all the scary connotations that laced the name, and I now carry acidic items, modest homes, and male monarchy in high esteem. Acid House Kings' sound carries the typical euphonic aura that [...]
It's no secret that we're big on the whole Swedish thing here at BadmintonStamps. So you can only imagine the level of excitement radiating through our Philadelphia offices in anticipation of tonight's Acid House Kings show. Their first Philadelphia show ever, it'll be goin' down at the Kensington South Forum. The whole shebang, which includes fellow Swede rockers The Legends and local upstarts Brown Recluse Sings, kicks off at 9PM, and will set you back all of $7. Seriously, even Ikea can't offer you that much Swedish for your dollar.
DOWNLOAD: Do What You Wanna Do (MP3) "Sweden's Acid House Kings have been around for over ten years now and finally (!) planning a U.S. tour. Most of you have probably heard at least a song or two from them by now, as last year's Sing Along With Acid House Kings was not only a big hit on the blogosphere, but it got great reviews from Pitchfork and other esteemed publications." MP3: Acid House Kings - Keep Your Love Swedish music has always tickled my fancy, as well as the Swedish furniture that adorns my bedroom, those lovely Swedish lasses and that Swedish car I have parked in my driveway. I dont know what it is about the place, but they have a knack of making the best of everything with a touch of quirkyness. One example of Swedish bliss are Acid House Kings, who have been doing their power-guitar-pop thing for over a decade. They are about [...]
