After seven years, Michaela Dippel, aka Ada, has released a follow-up album to 2004's Blondie. Meine Zarten Pfoten, which translates from the German to My Tender Paws, is a departure from the poppy, more beat driven songs on her previous album, such as the popular "Blindhouse." One can't help wondering why the songs on Meine Zarten Pfoten are so minimal in their construction. Opening with an encouragingly high fidelity scratch on vinyl effect, the first song, "Faith," is basically a three chord ascension with minimal lyrics. Video: Ada - Likely Nicht, dass es wirklich so beabsichtigt war, aber dass Ada ihrem zweiten Album vorausgehend die nicht darauf enthaltene Single Me And The Three rausbrachte, war wohl die Finte des Jahres. Davon ausgehend hätte ich jedenfalls kaum eine überwiegend untechnohafte Platte voller bassarmer, warmer und irgendwie sehr, sehr europäischer Popeleganz erwartet. Vor allem an Saint Etienne um Mario's Cafe rum fühl ich mich von Meine Zarten Pfoten erinnert, nicht in einer starken Klang- oder Strukturübereinstimmung sondern in einer unaufdringlichen, zeitlosen Aura, die diese Platte ausstrahlt und die banale Saison-Ortsbindungen wie "Sommer" und "Strand" [...]

Oha, schon das zweite technoartige Album, das mir dieses Jahr gefällt? Aber wie ich beim Hören selbst etwas überrascht aufhorchte, muss selbst das "-artige" bei Ada s heute erscheinendem und ab heute auch anhörbarem zweitem Album in Frage stehen, gut die Hälfte der Spielzeit vergeht, bis überhaupt mal ein Beat auftaucht. Vielmehr ist es ein warmer, überaus analog-instrumental klingender Sommerreigen mit einer unbemühten Eleganz, die an französischen Pop mit Blick aufs Mittelmeer erinnert.
