As Warbringer begins a North American tour supporting Iced Earth and Symphony X this week, it has been revealed that longtime guitarist Adam Carroll has decided to leave the band and last weekend's shows supporting Death Angel were his last. "To all fans and friends, I, Adam Carroll, have officially quit WARBRINGER. I have financial issues at ho... Read More/Discuss on Metal Underground.com
This version is from a 2008 album called Old Time Rock and Roll. You can find it here: Adam Carroll .

I went a little overboard in my first post about this record back in January. But now with hindsight and many more listens I agree with everything I said in that post. Hard Times by Adam Carroll and Michael O'Connor is a quintessential Texas americana record. It stands up there with the best of the bunch. There are equal parts humor, sadness, and resignation on this record which deals with hard times in the Gulf Coast region of Texas. "Billy Gibbons Beard" is one of the [...]

I've written a bunch about Adam Carroll . I've covered his solo records ( here ), a duo record with Michael O'Connor ( here ) and now a live from Flipnotics Cafe record. To quote myself here's what I originally wrote about the song "Oklahoma Gypsy Shuffler" when it first appeared on Adam's record Old Town Rock N Roll : The song is about a loner who roams the land getting into and out of trouble, both mortal and of the soul. With lines like "drivin' down the west coast highway", [...]

I know that as a roots rock fan I should be bowing down to the alter of Ray Wylie Hubbard right about now. But I'd rather point out a record that tackles it's subject with a relentless energy and one track mind and one that will no doubt be overshadowed by the new Ray Wylie Hubbard. That record is the new one from Adam Carroll and Michael O'Connor called Hard Times . The result of their collaboration on this song cycle is a concept record that succeeds on a number of levels: lyrically, [...]

A few months back, when I first stumbled across the myspace page of local alt-country singer Nicholas Altobelli , I was taken aback by the maturity that this youngster displayed. Like a pleasant version of Ryan Adams , Altobelli's mix of classic, Dylanesque folk and more modern singer/songwriter fare resonated through his recently released Streetcar Visions EP. Now comes word that Altobelli has basically completed his first full-length and is just waiting for the necessary funds in order to get the thing in circulation. "I uploaded three new songs on Wednesday [to [...]

"Oklahoma Gypsy Shuffler", off the new record by Texas singer-songwriter Adam Carroll , has plenty of honky but not a lot of tonk. Adam doesn't play the hard country that we usually feature on honky-tonk Friday. But this song embodies the spirit of honky-tonk as well as any we've ever posted. The song is about a loner who roams the land getting into and out of trouble, both mortal and of the soul. With lines like "drivin' down the west coast highway", "songs out the window was all he had to lose" (can't you [...]
While everyone and their grandmother (and her publicist) descend upon Austin this week for SXSW, I thought I'd shine a little light on a terrific local singer/songwriter who's been working that town for the past decade. East Texas troubadour Adam Carroll is a master teller of small stories. Leaving the sweeping Cinemascope epics to other Lone Star crooners, Adam opts to deliver quieter Polaroid ruminations on everyday moments. He sings with an unadorned matter-of-factness that gives extra weight to his words and draws you closer to the characters who inhabit them. Listen straight through [...]
