How long did it take for the internet to start making Adam Yauch hologram jokes? Oh, about 30 seconds. Here's a random assortment of people who probably thought they had an original... Support indie media! Read the rest at thephoenix.com . . .

One week ago today, the music world lost Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch following his three-year battle with cancer. It was a major blow to fans of the trio whose music had soundtracked the past 26 years. Additionally, The Voice finally wrapped up Season 2 this week, but not without a few barbs coming from — and aimed at — Christina Aguilera . And along those lines, it seems Xtina isn't the only former member of Mickey [...]
The Beastie Boys weren't my introduction to hip-hop (I like to credit A Tribe Called Quest and their 1993 album Midnight Marauders, which I picked up on tape in fourth grade, for really getting me obsessed with the genre), but they without a doubt became an important group within my exploration of the genre. So I was devastated this past week when I was informed of Adam Yauch (a.k.a. MCA) losing his battle with cancer. I don't know what I can say that has not already been said at this point, but I will always admire the fearlessness and ecleticism [...]
Does Doc Zeus not bleed? I admire Adam Yauch. As a diehard hip hop fan and a child of the 1990s, that might seem exceedingly obvious to say. But beyond the superficial of simply “liking” his music, Adam Yauch was an extraordinary human being. Beyond his accomplishments in music and film, his character was of the highest caliber and it's a tragedy beyond writing a few eulogistic words that he was ripped away from the rest of us at the sickeningly young age of 47. He deserved better. Far better. For a [...]
The film features the Beastie Boys' 2004 performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City and was shot by audience members and directed by Adam Yauch. It will screen at the Trocadero at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 17th; a $5 donation is suggested for the 21+ event (proceeds to benefit an as-yet-to-be-determined benefit of ... Continue reading

" You can kill a man, but never the idea " With its crunching guitars, blues howl and of course the booming voice of your new favourite rapper of all time, B. Dolan "King Bee " (preview video above) was an obvious first single from the eagerly awaited " House of Bee's Vol.2 " mixtape. However after the death of Adam "MCA" Yauch Dolan ripped up the plan and instead went with what felt right. " Still Here " was [...]
As anyone reading this almost definitely knows, Levon Helm and Adam Yauch recently died. I like the Band and the Beastie Boys, but I'm not one to assess either artist's lives or cultural impact or anything big picture. I want to share a little about how they each affected me and my listening experiences and also learn what they meant to all of you.

The Go-Go band, Trouble Funk, filed a lawsuit against the Beastie Boys for copyright infringement the day before Yauch's passing. It takes a cold-hearted bastard to continue suing a dead man, his grieving band mates and former label over a few samples from albums made in 1985 and '89. TufAmerica, the firm representing Trouble Funk, alleges

"You can kill the man, but never the idea" The guitar crunching stomp of " King Bee " (preview vid above) was supposed to be the first single from your new favourite rapper of all time, B. Dolan's "House of Bee's Vol.23 but after the death of Adam "MCA" Yauch he scrapped those plans. Dolan had penned " Still Here " as an ode to his father who passed away after being diagnosed with Lung Cancer in 2010. As a mark of respect for Yauch and of course [...]

This just in: DJ Hurricane , who worked with the Beastie Boys from 1986-2000, has released a statement regarding the death of Adam "MCA" Yauch (pictured above). Here is the full statement from the NYC-bred jock: As I mourn my friend, Adam Yauch aka MCA, I send my heartfelt condolences to his wife, daughter and loving parents. I think of all of the good times we shared that I will cherish forever. We rocked so many stages together: from Jerusalem to Italy to North America to South America to Japan to Australia and [...]

Según la disquera, los temas de Beastie Boys “Hold It Now Hit It”, “The New Style” [...]
The late Adam "MCA" Yauch wasn't just a beyond-skilled and influential rapper. The founding member of the Beastie Boys was also a gifted bassist, filmmaker, and, in the case of this post, journalist. Many of likely know that he had a close relationship with the Tibetan people, something that's highlighted here in his interview with none other than the Dalai Lama. If it's too difficult to read due to the smaller size of the photograph, just zoom in and it'll be an easier read. Enjoy. Huge props to Babylon Falling for scanning [...]
The day before Adam Yauch died, Tuf America had served papers on the Beastie Boys . That's a little awkward, isn't it? The label's attorney, Kelly Talcott, has now addressed the "unfortunate" timing of the legal filing, and sent her condolences to Yauch's loved ones on behalf of the music bosses. Talcott tells E! News, "I was very sorry to hear of Adam Yauch's untimely passing, and can assure you that the unfortunate timing of the filing of TufAmerica's complaint had nothing to do with his health. On behalf of myself and TufAmerica, I offer our condolences [...]

So What Cha Want - Beastie Boys - The Record Company cover - Click to download. LA based, The Record Company, does their bluesy rendition/tribute of So What Cha Want in honor of Adam Yauch’s (MCA) recent passing. It’s a horrible tragedy that the universe has taken this musician from us. But his life and life’s work are now being celebrated. It’s sad that it takes one’s passing to realize what a true talent and amazing person we had. Heaven just got one more great talent… RIP MCA 1964-2012
Filed under: News Jason Merritt/Getty Images Timing, as the expression goes, is everything. And sometimes, timing can be inadvertently terrible, like lawsuit leveled against the Beastie Boys that's rubbing salt on the still-fresh wound of Adam Yauch's passing. On May 3, one day before Adam 'MCA' Yauch died following a three-year cancer battle, record label Tuf America hit the Beasties with a l awsuit for copyright infringement over their two most [...]

In what has to be one of the worst-timed legal actions ever (not that there's ever a good time to get sued, mind you), hip hop/R&B record label Tuf America filed a lawsuit against Beastie Boys last Thursday — one day before band member Adam Yauch lost his life to cancer — in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. The suit claims that two songs by the label's artist Trouble Funk were illegally sampled on four Beastie songs from 1986 album [...]
