SNIFF A BASS RELEASE Awww c'mon. What the fuck is it with 30 second previews? If you're going to upload 128kbps audio clips surely that's poor enough quality to put people off ripping it and playing it out? If this were catering Die and Addison Groove would be chefs offering free samples of the menu but only once it had already been eaten, bodily excreted and curled out into a neat little box with a bow on it. The merest waft of the heaviest of bass tracks. Bastards.

Rap game flooded with a deluge of "5 AM in Toronto" freestyles. Exercise some creativity. Pick up your pickaxe. Dig up some dirt. Ring Zilla Rocca, throwing right hand hooks like Rocky, the real Rocky, over Gaslamp Killer and Adrian Younge's Veteran's Day distortion. A few people didn't get GLK's last record. A comment section sideliners chimed in that he should stick to his DJ sets. But for those who love psychedelia in all it's squalor, it felt like a new slash through the fabric. Or as El-P more eloquently said : "Gaslamp incorporated the tricks, turns and spirit [...]
Broken & Uneven are back in 2013 with a HUGE lineup for an Ostgut Ton vs 50 Weapons showcase in London on 28th March. Representing the Ostgut camp we have Marcel Fengler, Barker & Baumecker... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

by Andrew Sacher FaltyDL (aka NYC producer Drew Lustman) released his third full length album, Hardcourage , last week/month (1/22) via Ninja Tune. For the most part, he's ditched the darker, harder edged UK bass of his last album, in favor of a brighter, wider sound that works great with the album's cover art (above). Friendly Fires' Ed Macfarlane lends his vocals to the track "She Sleeps," and though the rest of the album tends [...]

We've been spinning Jimmy Edgar's recent productions with Machinedrum under the creative alias, Jets, on a handful of recent Dank Radio episodes. 2013 is here. The apocalypse was a sham. We are all still alive. So I propose an idea in this new age. Why not listen to some music that you wouldn't otherwise find or listen to on your own without mainstream corporations advocating them and pushing them down your throat? Fear no more, EARMILK 's Weekly Flavours is here. As of 2013, I will no longer be using the term EDM (electronic dance music) to describe the types of music emerging from the underground. The stigma that surrounds the acronym has descended to such a broad generalization [...]
We only jumpstarted our Sounds From The Astral Plane series a few weeks ago, but this edition will (unfortunately) most likely be the last of 2012. We do have a few nice features coming your way in the next couple of days so keep your eyes peeled. This week, we have two (!) Missy Elliot reworks, a quartet of amorphous mixes and more on-point Kid Smpl night bus vibes. Much love as always.
Living legends Massive Attack recently paid a visit to the BBC studios to record quite the eclectic mix for BBC 6Music . Massive Attack is currently celebrating 21 years since the release of their groundbreaking album, Blue Lines and took to the opportunity to craft a mix that both represents the inspirations for that album and the four subsequent albums they've released in their long careers. Blue Lines features the single " Unfinished Sympathy ," a song commonly regarded as one of the very best dance music songs of all time. This mix features [...]

The two brands will join force for a big night at London’s Hidden this October.

We are very happy to hear that Addison Groove has started his own label Lost in Translation . The dj/producer is one of the most exciting and adventurous artists around at the moment and we're pretty sure he'll be hunting down some fresh and unique stuff. The first release comes from Chebus & Organ. We're digging the B side below. Buy on vinyl here . See Addison Groove in action along with Dusky and others at Found:Soltek on 21 September [...]
RAGGA BASS - More monkey business scheduled for Modeselektor's 50 Weapons imprint. Although a 50 second clip does seem just a little bit patronising. I wasn't gonna nick it mate I swear.
UK BASS BOOM - Barely enough to moisten your gusset here's a 55 second clip of the impending Addison Groove release due out in Mid September. The other 6 minutes and 5 seconds could be complete and utter bollocks. It's like Beatport circa 2009.

Modeselektor 's sister label to Monkeytown, 50Weapons , has been steadily earning itself the title of "Most Discerning Record Label Ever", challenging R&S, Hessle and Hotflush. Now the imprint has announced it will be releasing the forthcoming singles from Addison Groove and Benjamin Damage (pictured above). The latter has stated his new 123 single 'Swarm / Headache' recalls "the heyday of techno" and is slated for a 5 October release. Addison Groove, on the other hand, will be releasing his follow-up to 'Transistor Rhythm', 'Adventures in Rainbow Country' which [...]

Dimensions Festival is a brand new festival for 2012 and may have just shot to the number one spot on our festival wish list . Brought to us from the team that run Outlook festival, Dimensions is set at the same amazing location in Croatia. The festival describes itself as 'Underground music in an abandoned fort' which totally sells it to us in just six words. Looking through the pictures on their facebook page it really does look like a beautiful and unique raving experience. [...]

Last month we brought you our very first Kittencast and here's the second instalment mixed for us by London based producer B-Me , he says: 'This is a mix of some of my favourite bass tracks from the past few years with a few classic dubstep tunes thrown in for good measure.' It features recent releases from the likes of Addison Groove and Machinedrum and some old favourites such as the classic Mystical Warrior from Appleblim . We love it! Download for free [...]

DJs regularly take to Twitter to express their feelings — to promote an upcoming release or show, vent or share thoughts or be a little silly with their followers. With Forbes ( a business new and financial publication that's become obsessed with DJ culture ) recently publishing its list of highest-paid DJs (see below), we thought Twitter would be awash with commentary — both positive, negative and indifferent — from DJs. Well, we scoured Twitter looking for opinions on the aforementioned topic and came up empty. Aside from a congratulatory tweet from Dillon Francis and [...]
