by amy davis Brad Kunkle is a man that has been gifted with a dichotomy of careers in both the music and art worlds. The intersections of both the sonic and visual nature has always played a big role in his life and fortunately, his two passions aren't mutually exclusive. Artist: [...]
Jsut got word today, that Lumberville PA's Hair Rocket will be releasing their debut full length, Novelty, June 5th on Mountebank records which is also home to BOS faves Aderbat . Hair Rocket is the artistic endeavor of P. Crane and Chris Blasucci. It began as a documentary music video contrasting Carl Jung's anima concept and Blasucci's tragic love life. And it looks like they have a show lined up for release day at John & Peter's in New Hope PA as well. Good stuff, check it out. [...]

A funny thing is happening in the Philadelphia music scene. The best music seems to be coming from an area about 30 miles northward, in Pennsylvania's Bucks County region. With acts like Aderbat and Drink Up Buttercup , Bucks County is becoming home to some amazing acts. Doylestown's own Peasant , aka. Damien Derose , is one such act. For coming from a town most people around the nation have never heard of, Derose has already gained some [...]

Tonight is fairly calm all around the surrounding areas...perhaps this is it...nap time? No wait! What's this? In Philly Johnny Brenda's has one of our favorite Philly bands, Aderbat, playing a sweet show. Also on the bill is the intriguing Obi Best (you definitely might like her) as well as Caves Of Mercury. If you can make it out, you're in for a treat. mp3: Aderbat - Pilgrim mp3: Obi Best - Swedish Boy

After some great weather and a holiday you either love or hate (damn you, St. Valentine!), winter is somehow still here. And since I got a new cable line wired into the apartment, so am I. Spring is just around the corner and bands are gearing up for the festival of festival in Austin. Yes, SXSW is only a month away. So prepare yourself for a veritable onslaught of bands fine tuning their shows before heading down Texas way. Papertrigger A few bands are [...]
Tonight in Baltimore don't miss out on some heated shows for a cold night. The Talking Head has The Golden Filter, Future Islands, and Smart Growth while the Hexagon has Microwave Background, Holy Ghost Party, and Weekends. If you head down to DC you can catch a few solid shows as well. The Red and the Black has Fffever, Kitty Hawk, The Naked Hearts, and Fugitive Kind while the Black Cat has Nightmares On Wax. Also don't let it slip your mind that it's night # three of shows by Thievery Corporation [...]

we belong to the sea , the most recent full-length from brooklyn- & philly-based aderbat , found its way into our hands recently, and we've been enjoying this song, "busted cars," a gauzy & laid back piece of alternative rock, quite a bit. have a listen: aderbat - busted cars you can hear more from aderbat on their myspace page , or check out the band's own blog over here .

Aderbat - Mastodon A recent find for me, if you're a fan of Wintersleep or perhaps Ryan Adams' singing, you'll dig this. Weird Tapes - My Babe Walk Though I haven't paid much attention to dancier stuff in the last few months, I heard this and was immediately impressed. The track mixes atmospheric chilled out segments with a Cyndi Lauper sample and some Kavinsky-like sinister sounding shit thrown in to boot. The track sounds great as is, but if you've heard it incorporated in a nice set please drop the [...]

Evan Dando (Credit: Artist's Myspace) Gifts are coming to the IA area a few days early. A great lineup of shows this weekend. Quite a few big names are rolling through the area to make your holidays bright. The fighting Gallagher brothers have somehow not killed each other yet and put out a new album, Dig Out Your Soul , in October. Now Oasis is touring the states, hitting the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden Friday and the Patriot Center at GMU Saturday. Will it be a great show or a fist fight [...]
by eliza czander Lately I've been finding myself searching for music that will take me on some sort of journey. Searching for an album I can listen to from start to finish, that I can fall into, and completely unbend. Radiohead and Jeff Buckley are both all too familiar by now, and Frightened Rabbit is growing tired of me, so thank you Bmac for something new. [...]
I hope everyone had a chill Thursday, gave thanks for low gas prices and dirty corporate thieves getting what they deserve, and went home with leftovers that'll last through the week. I was thinking about heading to NYC for an Arms solo show at the Cake Shop but my trusty white volvo kicked the bucket after a solid 15 year, 230,000 mile run. C'est la vie. Had I made the show last night, I would have had a bit more to say about opening band Aderbat . Either way I was able to find [...]

The middle of fall, nothing like it. It is also a huge weekend for shows in the area. Quite a few big names are rolling through the area and pulling multiple city stops. Here's what to check out. The Pacific northwest has produce numerous indie acts. One of the biggest, The Decemberists are playing two shows this weekend with fellow Portlanders Loch Lomond . You can catch them at the Electric Factory Friday and Rams Head Live in Baltimore Saturday. mp3: The Decemberists - [...]

Aderbat is new. It's still a local band, provided by some good music blog around. It's nothing glamorous, nothing electronic, nothing but lyrically nice and musically good. [I've posted another song about them, my favourite .] *mp3 - Mastodon *mp3 - No One Would Notice Posted in Loved, New, Video Tagged: aderbat, indie rock, Loved, New, Video
It's hard to maintain journalistic objectivity when you are reporting on a band you feel so passionate about. Such is the case with me when it comes to talking about aderbat. As mentioned in my earlier cd review of the band's recent effort We Belong To The Sea, I am a bit past the point [...]

My apologies to Lillie Ruth Bussey for missing her set as I arrived at Johnny Brenda's this past Thursday Night for Aderbat 's Cd Release party just as Bitter Bitter Weeks was taking the stage. They opened with one of my personal favorites of theirs, Lo-Res and the night was off to excellent start. Bitter Bitter Weeks jangly shimmering guitar pop sounded excellent despite the fact that Brian McTear was having some trouble with his [...]

Tonight here in Baltimore the Lo-Fi Social Club has a great show with PA's Aderbat, The Cheater's Club, Teadora Nikolova, and Pressure Sing. Also in DC, the Black Cat has a phenomenal show with Tilly and The Wall, The Ruby Suns, and Exit Clov. Enjoy! mp3: Tilly and The Wall - Cacophony mp3: The Ruby Suns - There Are Birds mp3: Aderbat - No One Would Notice

Shows are light this Thursday. Here's what to check out: It's a CD release party at Johnny Brenda's in Philly for Aderbat . Due out today is We Belong To The Sea , "a missive on longing, memory and the experiential Life". Joining the party are Philly bands East Hundred , finishing on a new album themselves, and Bitter Bitter Weeks . If you miss Aderbat tonight, they will also be releasing at The Factory in Doylestown Friday and down at the [...]

Tonight in DC don't miss Hot Lava, Kitty Hawk, and Sweet Teeth at DC9 . If you happen to be in Philly tonight there's two great shows. Johnny Brenda's has local favorite Aderbat along with East Hundred, Bitter Bitter Weeks, and Lillie Ruth Bussey. Over at the North Star Bar , House of Fire perform with The Shackeltons, The Tragics, and Bottle Up & Go. Photo by Ed Roper mp3: Aderbat - Mastodon mp3: Kitty Hawk - Move Me mp3: House Of [...]

Aderbat, aka Bucks County, PA's own Matt Taylor, is about to release his debut LP, We Belong To The Sea in July. I was lucky enough to preview this album recently and walked away with Josh Rouse singing Bends-era Radiohead songs as a first impression. What does this all mean? It means that Taylor's songs are thoughtfully written and emotionally performed. His raspy voice takes you down a country highway, while the overall song structure has you bobbing your head to something a bit more modern. The production isn't over-glorified, yet it isn't simple either. Takes for instance [...]
