The Widow Witch 's cover model, Julia Dawidowicz Just in time for the turkey-est day of the year comes a new record from Adrian Orange , AKA Thanksgiving , AKA a number of other aliases that we can't keep track of. Thanksgiving's new record is called The Widow Witch , and it's streaming on its entirety on Orange's Bandcamp page . The Widow Witch is an impressive 39 tracks long, clocking in at well over two hours. Orange appears to have recorded it back in 2009, but only [...]
If I lived anywhere near Athens, GA (or if I had the extra cash) I would totally take a trip to the Next To Last Festival. Over 70 artists are taking over the New Earth Music Hall, The Melting Point, The State Botanical Garden, & Farm255 (to name a few places). Here are a couple [...]

[ cred ] "It never takes longer than a few minutes, when they get together, for everyone to revert to the state of nature, like a party marooned by a shipwreck. That's what a family is. Also the storm at sea, the ship, and the unknown shore. And the hats and the whiskey stills that you make out of bamboo and coconuts. And the fire that you light to keep away the beasts." - Michael Chabon Adrian Orange - Don't Get Used to It [...]

Ah, we're super excited! Sophie's mom, aka our dear Kim, is in the hospital as I type this pushing out what's soon to be the cutest babe of the year (pictured above). I'm super bummed that I can't be around to show some physical excitement, but at least for now I'm hoping that a collection of tunes for the tot to rock the cradle to will suffice. Sophie, bump this! And to our way loved and soon-to-be born Lucie Beatrice Harlow Glover, happy birthday lil' friend. Try and hold out a few months before getting a facebook. here's [...]

Charlie Brooker, of the Guardian, breaks down reality TV show editing. Pretty self-explanatory, but presented in such a charming way...or I'll just watch anything with an English accent. Plus there's never a poor reason to post some Adrian Orange on the site. Adrian Orange - The Real Wild World

Thanksgiving is the quiet folk alter ego of Adrian Orange, a musician from America's North West who has, since his teens, been part of a tight knit music community that includes Phil Elverum (The Microphones, Mount Eerie), Kyle Field (Little Wings) and Calvin Johnson. Orange started young, playing his first show at the age of 11 and by the age of 15, he had toured Europe and dropped out of high school to pursue music full time. He co-founded the brilliant label Marriage Records with his Watery Graves band-mate Curtis Knapp in late 2002, producing the [...]

Who? Adam Lipman What? Monotonous songs that are haunting Sounds like? Mt. Eerie, Adrian Orange, Thanksgiving, The Microphones, and other lo-fi stuff So i'm a bit slacking with my blog, mostly because i'm sometimes occupied with this other blog i'm doing (in Dutch, so not for everyone reading here). That's why i think this kind of good dull sounding guy should be on my blog waking me up. Adam Lipman sounds like the brother of Thanksgiving (aka Adrian Orange). He [...]

Photography by Tsuru Okay, time for another podcast ... I'm heading out of town for the weekend, going to Mesa, Arizona (should be fun and filled with tons of photo opportunities but no vinyl rips, obviously) and I wanted to get a third podcast ready for the long flights and (hopefully) for your enjoyment! Unfortunately, the talented and beautiful TsuruBride won't be able to join me, she's going to be a busy beaver these next couple of weeks getting ready for her first big show in November, the Tiny [...]

Marriage Records in Portland, OR has a spiritual consonance with a lot of other record labels you know from the pacific northwest area. They've been around for a few years and have put out a lot of low-run handmade objects, tell-tale paper folded CD cases and some really Ghee-orgeous vinyl releases. They just put out new comp, their second (only $10!), and I want to play two tracks from it for you, both from dudes who possess a different kind of vocal swagger than I know of from dudes elsewhere. (I think it's weird regional soul music for the [...]

Sometimes you can hear so much honesty in a singer's voice or a song writer's words that no matter how awkward they are, how unconventional they sound, there is a deep and intense immediate love for them. Daniel Johnston, Jeff Magnum of Neutral Milk Hotel, and Joanna Newsom are all prime examples of this, people who draw us in deeper than the melodies their vocal chords create. Pulled in to these tiny fragile worlds like egg shells, the songs take on a quality so much bigger than the sum of their parts. Adrian Orange (aka The Thanksgiving) [...]

I am pretty sure that Invisible Limb is the world's worst mp3 blog. We hardly post anything and when we do it's usually a music review, and not an essay or a dissertation on a new gossip website or the new iPod. I guess you can blame this on our inexperience or you can just say we are weak music bloggers. Anyway, if we ever really want to be taken seriously and get mad hitz I am going to have to remember where my priorities are. MP3 BLOG #1. All else a distant second. In [...]
