(when I started writing the blog, I hadn't got my cats. this is them, several months ago) Well, and here we are! This is the 100th post I have done on the blog. Over the course of seven months, my interest in music, along with comments on teaching and hitting thirty have given me something to work on. Whilst I still dream of having as many readers as some of the other blogs, the feedback I have received has been flattering, and if I had as little rubbish to deal [...]
Each weekday, My Morning Download introduces you to some of the coolest new music on the web. We clear through the noise so you don't have to. Meet Aereogramme My Heart Has A Wish That You Would Not Go is the title of the new album from Glasgow's Aereogramme. Their music, once described to me by a fan as "imagine if Coldplay was really cool and not as pretentious," is anthemic, epic guitar rock

Call Me Lightning - Billion Eyes (2007) Call Me Lightning - Soft Skeletons / Frenchkiss After a week listening to minimalist house, wooded noise walks and icy folk wonderlands, I thought I'd warm myself up with some more traditional "rockist" stuff coming out of the periphery of the pop camp. Call Me Lightning are first up and, after apologizing to The Detachment Kit for calling them Frenchkissers (They self-released + ), I thought I'd redeem myself a bit by calling lightning out for what it is: [...]

Aereogramme - "Nightmares". Full disclosure: I once had drinks with Aereogramme. I was reviewing Broken Social Scene's gig in Glasgow, the one where the lights blew out at the climax of "It's All Going to Break". I had spoken to Kevin Drew, awkwardly, because I am an after-show bumbler. With me was Charles, a photographer. Charles is from New York, likes hip-hop and Sunset Rubdown, and is somehow, strangely, the world's biggest Aereogramme fan. Charles struck up a conversation with the concert's promoter, who was waiting to give a bottle of booze to BSS. Charles asked him if he was [...]
Angeblich kann man sich auf myspace das komplette Album der neuen Supergroup The Good, The Bad and the Queen anhören. Ich halte das aber für ein Gerücht. Beim mir streamt nämlich gar nix. myspace ist die Seuche. ?Trail of Dead haben ein neues Video zu Naked Sun fertig. Prüfen kann ich das leider auch nicht, [...]

I've got the pre-Christmas cold blues. I say i've got the pre-Christmas cold blues. Etc. Imagine my name's Blind Jimmie Summer...ville. Or something. Or forget it. URGH. URGGHHHH. No energy to type. Let's get straight down to it with some Peel Session action from the frankly wonderful Aereogramme. Aereogramme are a Scottish four piece who have been trucking around with a wonderful blend of post-rock, prog and alt. rock since 2000. They've released four studio albums, are totally unmissable live, and were also notably involved this year in a CD of the In The Fishtank series [...]

I was actually going to write it last night, but it's just as well I didn't, as the song (hosted by Pitchdork) got pulled today at the [...]
Scotland's Aereogramme have announced plans to release their next full length, My Heart Has A Wish That You Would Not Go on February 6th, 2007. The album follows both their 2006 EP, Seclusion and their recent collaboration with Isis titled In the Fishbowl . Produced by Aereogramme and Martin Doherty, the album was recorded in Glasgow at 4th Street Studios. The album will be preceded in the UK by a 7" single featuring the song "Barriers" and B-Side "Dissolve." There [...]

Music, music in the air; Music, music everywhere! So it's the weekend, yet again. This week just flew by. I honestly don't know where all the time went as I look back on a slurry five day blur leading to the end of last weekend. This weekend looks set to be a mellow one, a calm before the storm as it were, before the one-two punch of Pitchfork Fest and Lollapalooza over the next two weekends. it's about frickin' time. Due to my grown-up schedule I have been suffering a serious deficiency [...]

Ok, I've got three songs for you all on this third day of the workweek (plus a bonus song, but we'll get to that later). These three have nothing to do with one another, really, except that I've been listening to them a bunch in my eternal efforts to kill the empty workday. Here's me at work with my buddy Andy: Tunng are an up'n'coming gorillapants favorite-their new album Comments of the Inner Chorus has been tearing up both mine and Niina's personal charts (and you might [...]
Aerogramme - "Disciple (a Slayer cover)" mp3 About a month after 6/6/06 I found out that Aerogramme have released an exclusive version of "Disciple" on that day. It falls into the category of Slayer covers that you hardly, if at all, recognize the original but instead attach the sound and the intentions of the performing group into a song by admired group. It should be clear that this version is one of the best and one of the most memorable Slayer covers there is.
