We have named the 10 essential Record Store Day 2012 purchases for you and, [...]

I love putting together our monthly mixtapes. It's fun slowly compiling the tracks over the course of the month; it's fun sequencing the tracks for the mix; and I love that "ah ha" moment when I realize the mix is finally done. All of the pieces for this one fell into play last night, and although I normally like living with my mixes for awhile before sharing them, this one just seemed ready to be set free. You'll find lots of great new music from familiar artists like Aesop Rock, steffaloo, and Ty Segall and White Fence, but this mix [...]

This week offered up a bunch of satisfying singles, so it was a little more challenging than usual to sift through it all and come up with just 10 favorites. However, we think we done good with the following selections, what with it featuring everyone from Aesop Rock to Yuck to Frank Ocean. Until next time, enjoy. A Place to Bury Strangers - "Burning Plastic" When tragic things happen, society takes to art. Brooklyn-based label Famous Class is doing just that with their new 73 series, honoring their recently passed [...]

Those unable to wait for the July release date set for Aesop Rock 's sixth studio effort, Skelethon , can rejoice knowing that the first single "Zero Dark Thirty" has surfaced. Rock regains his form as he rapidly throws lyrical jabs over the self-produced beat. The rapid tempo of "Zero Dark" almost seems overkill considering everything else that's happening on the track, but by the end everything flows well together. Your ears will enjoy this one as Rock reminds you exactly why he has had such longevity in a genre that uses up [...]
Aesop Rock is back with his first album since 20072s None Shall Pass and it's shaping up to be pretty great already. Both the artwork (above) for Skelethon and the first single "Zero Dark Thirty" are awesome. Skelethon is due out July 10th via Rhymesayers. Aesop Rock "Zero Dark Thirty"
It's been roughly 5 years since the lyrical powerhouse, Aesop Rock had released an album and with his first single "Zero Dark Thirty" it doesn't appear he's showing any signs of rust within his lyrics. Not to be confused with the similarly named "swag" rapper, plus Aesop Rock isn't that kind of lyricist....at all. In fact he'd probably be on the very other end of the rapper spectrum; his lyrics are filled with content, metaphors are child's play to Aesop and each bar has no single definition, one person could take a different meaning to his [...]

The last time Aesop Rock dropped a solo project, a white man was sitting in the oval office and LeBron James wore number 23. Now in 2012, the NYC-emcee returns [...]

Look, I'm not going to pretend I ever know what Aesop Rock is talking about, but he seems to, and sometimes that's enough. "Zero Dark Thirty," the first single off his upcoming album Skelethon on Rhymesayers , knocks hard enough with its beat alone, all huge drums and extraterrestrial keys. Let this track soundtrack your grad school term papers until Skelethon drops on July 10th, at which point Rap Genius will have its work cut out. Aesop Rock - Zero [...]

While everyone is patiently waiting for Soundset 2012 , one newly signed Rhymesayer is getting ready to release his first solo album in almost five years. Known for his lyrical abilities, Aesop Rock has been a pioneer in the underground hip hop scene and should fit right in at Rhymesayers . Look for his album "Skelethon" on July 10, and until then enjoy his newly released single: "Zero Dark Thirty." Plus, here's a trailer for the album! Disclaimer: It's a pretty dark video and [...]
Now that the Internet has decided that Danny Brown is the greatest rapper since Big Daddy Kane, maybe it can revise its opinion on Aesop Rock. If you recall, many of the same people who rode for Ian Bavitz from 2001-2004 decided to ignore him for the last ocho, largely because his name is Ian Bavitz. And as the skit on Ironman said, "there's no coke. You heard me, you dumb fuck, there's no coke." Maybe Bazooka Tooth wasn't what you wanted, but it was better than you thought. And a younger Hybrid memorized every word of [...]

First leak off Aesop Rock's Skelethon album (July 10th), titled "Zero Dark Thirty".

Fiona Apple is coming back to Seattle! July 25, 2012, she will play a show at the Paramount in support of her new album, The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do . STG has not listed when the tickets will go on sale yet, but based on other tour stops, I'm guessing it will be around or after April 20. Check the STG website for more details. No, Jack White still hasn't [...]

Look what came out from the wood work. Aesop Rock just let loose the first single from his Rhymsayers debut album Skelethon which drops July 10th.
