As someone with the relatively hipster tendency to only listen to albums as complete wholes, I must say that many hip hop releases stretch the limits of my patience. I don't know what it is about the genre that makes the artists believe that their fans want nothing more than to hear an album full of painfully unfunny skits, garbage attempts at crossover singles, redundant posse tracks, and a slew of '"bonus" songs that weren't good enough to be integrated into the sequence of the actual album so they become tacked on haphazardly at the end. There are too many [...]

Aesop Rock, Rob Sonic & DJ Big Wiz launch into beach-breaking bonanza with the new video for "Breakdance Beach."
As far as hip-hop goes, the Rhymesayers label is known for getting pretty deep and delving into hip-hop that sometimes borders on emo. That's not the case here. Aesop Rock, Rob Sonic, and DJ Big Wiz get goofy for this new video. "Break Dance Beach" is the fourth single from Hail Mary Mallon 's Are You Gonna Eat That , out now. Over the past few years, Aesop Rock , Rob Sonic , and DJ Big Wiz , have performed live together, and even made appearances on each other's solo albums. In 2011, the trio joined forces to release their debut LP under the Hail Mary Mallon moniker, Are Gonna Eat That?. The only video of the year featuring men stroking an iguana, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Jay Gatsby references. Hail Mary Mallon is still for sale and spreading typhoid to those immune to its charms. I am going to San Francisco this weekend and I will eat a hamburger at Grubstake in their honor. Download: MP3: Hail Mary Mallon-"Smock"

Check out the video from the crew above which features a cute cameo at the end [...]
Just as they did earlier this year, apparent BFFs Aesop Rock and Kimya Dawson are hitting the road for a joint tour this month. What's different this time around, though, is that they will be showcasing a slew of new material. We previously knew that Aes and Kimya were looking to work together, but it turns out that they are recording an entire collaborative album. They'll be performing tracks off that project along with material off their respective new solo albums. And if that wasn't enough, Aesop Rock will perform tracks [...]

While 'Eat' it doesn't entirely make a case for Aesop Rock's full-on return to the mic, it is a good reminder that he has a gift that hasn't lost its luster.
