During last week's Slamdance Film Festival, which runs concurrently with the Sundance Film Festival, punk rockers Against Me! played an hour-long set following the premiere of the Vans Warped tour documentary No Room For Rockstars . In addition to blasting through old hits and standbys, as Punknews.org points out, the band debuted three new songs: "Black Me Out", "Dead Friends", and "Osama Bin Laden Is the Crucified Christ". And just your luck, that entire performance is available for viewing below. "Black Me Out", which the band kicked the set off with, is an anthemic, [...]

It's been a long year. Scratch that, it's been a veeerrrry long year. From social revolutions to the end of our occupation of Iraq, from the death of celebrities and dictators to a man who sneezes bullets and the mystery of planking, the world experienced a slew of emotions and all sorts of cultural and political upheaval in 2011. And that's not even counting the plethora of music news that had the blogosphere abuzz this year . So, as the question begs, what comes next? Well, 2012. If you were to believe certain [...]

This track was all over my Facebook page today and for good reason. It's a good song . "Ruby is the first track from Cheap Girls ' upcoming release, Giant Orange (due out February 21st). Giant Orange was produced by none other than Against Me! 's Tom Gabel. Ruby by CheapGirls

As a long time fan (I knew him before he was famous maaan!) I know Frank to be an excellent and charismatic performer, and tonight's show in Birmingham (his biggest headline show so far apparently) did not disappoint. The energyand enthusiasm he has for live shows is clear from opener 'Eulogy' to finale 'Photosynthesis'. His set included a mixture of songs from all four albums, focusing la... Read more..

Webster defines an Aficionado as a person who likes, knows about, and appreciates a usually fervently pursued interest or activity; a devotee. This month ESBMusic suggests all you music aficionados become a fan of November's Artist of the Month Aficionado . Aficionado is a talented 7 piece band, hailing from Albany, NY with roots in punk music but have developed a unique style that they are happy to call their own. The band mixes organ, flute, and occasional horn arrangements into it's unorthodox blend of post-punk. Upon their inception in 2004, Aficionado began touring [...]

Photo courtesy LordKhan on Flickr 1. Tuesday - 'Too Much Of Today' Tuesday - Too Much Of Today Dan Andriano is the original - and maybe the only - crooner of punk rock. His lyrics might be steeped in cliches, but it's hard not to relate to every word the man utters. I think everyone's been in a similar situation to the one described in 'Too Much Of Today' and it's this, his ability to turn the most mundane things in [...]

Walked past the Wall Street demonstrations again. Sound and fury symbolizing everything and accomplishing nothing. How about we all stop buying shit for a week from some companies? It's called boycotting. That's the only way the fuckers will ever notice... if it hits em in their bottom line. We pay tribute to Steven Jobs by queuing en masse for the latest gadget. How about we pay tribute to "think different" by NOT buying shit for the week. I've been listening to Against Me lately. Third or fourth or ninety seventh generation punks that wear [...]

What can you get out of four guitarists? Just one listen to Diarrhea Planet and you'll see that it's a pretty heavy sound, if not one rooted in a bit of pop. With the vocals, I want to throw them in as a more rocking Against Me , but there's a lot less angst. This Nashville outfit is busy prepping their debut Loose Jewels on Infinity Cat Records , which you can find in stores on September 20th (next week!). It's possibly [...]
Filed under: News , Exclusive , New Music Noel Vasquez, Getty Images No one can accuse Against Me! of being slackers. The Florida punks have just come off a lengthy run with Warp Tour in support of a handful of recent releases, including last summer's final major label release 'White Crosses.' Then there's that business of launching their own record label, Total Treble Music, earlier this summer -- a milestone the group has [...]
Against Me! are the latest band to take part in A.V. Club 's ' Undercover Series ', the online series which sees band's perform a cover of one track off a list of 25 fan chosen songs. The latest episode of the series sees Against Me! cover The Clash 's " Janie Jones ". Check out the cover above.

Miss the good ol' times? Like maybe 16 just held such better days? Days when you still felt alive, possibly? Well, good news! Consequence of Sound and Fuse have partnered together to bring fans the next best thing besides hopping in that DeLorean. A pair of tickets for Blink-182 on the Honda Civic Tour will be given away to a different winner for each stop on these particular dates: 08/19 - St. Louis, MO @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre 08/20 - Chicago, IL @ First Midwest Bank Pavilion [...]
Watch Florida punks Against Me! cover the Clash's 'Janie Jones.'
Antes do [...]
There's something about combining male and female vocals that does it for me. The dynamic is gorgeous. Here are five of my favorite duets from some of my favorite artists. Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol) & Lisa Hannigan - Some Surprise This track was written by Bell X1 , another band that I'm fond of for their charity project, The Cake Sale . Lisa and Gary recorded this song perfectly. It's one that I've put on repeat many times. Gary [...]

I know it's been a while — both for me and for the new releases — but things will be picking up now that I'm able to sleep more than three hours at a time and I'm not working two full-time jobs. Speaking of which, my new job entails hosting After Dark on WFPK here in Louisville. So tune in if you want to be lulled to sleep Monday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. Plus Seth is posting again. So it's just like the old days, except I have less hair on my [...]

I'm not sure if this is one of the better weeks for new releases, but it certainly is one of the most interesting. Cerebral Ballzy (whose name alone should tell you a lot) puts out a self-titled album on Adult Swim's Williams Street label (pictured). Bomb! The Music Industry (once again, the name alone should tip you off) release Vacation . Brandy and Ray J put out A Family Business in support of their show of the same name (and, yes, we do consider those two to fit into the "weird" [...]

The 17th annual Vans Warped Tour stormed through southern California earlier this month for two of its 41 national dates, highlighted by performances from perennial Warped standouts Against Me! , "dirty reggae" rockers the Aggrolites , punk veterans Fear , roots-punkers Lucero and rejuvenated O.C. power-poppers Hellogoodbye . Here is a gallery of some of the action — Warped returns to SoCal on Aug. 10 at Cal State Dominguez Hills ( full lineup here ). Concert photography by Scott Dudelson
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Exclusive hoto by Noel Vasquez, Getty Images By mid-day, band stickers are strewn about the ground, sunscreen is streaking off arms and concertgoers are bee-lining to the autograph signing booth or else crowded around various stages draped in banners touting Nintendo and SkullCanady. It's absolute mayhem for most. But for the bands and crew behind the legendary roving music festival, it's just another day at Warped Tour . [...]
