Ahu presents Blossom Dearie is an endearing, funny, relaxing and classic jazz mini-mix for a Sunday of chilling and recovering from whatever you got yourself into Saturday night. This mix is by Ahu, a Turkish singer on OHM who has worked with Flying Lotus and other legends in progressive and downtempo music. Her mix honors Blossom Dearie - an American jazz singer with an incredible voice and great sense of humor, which is a major part of her songwriting, live jazz and bebop performances. She was a staple in the New York supper club scene in the 60s and [...]

Turkish vocalist Ahu has featured on all sorts of incredible artist's tracks. From Flying Lotus, to Groovemanspot, her soulful bluesy voice has become synonymous with experimental soul-jazz beats. She hasn't released anything since last year, but we have only just stumbled across her - and we love her understated voice. Maybe its little surprise that "To Love" wended its way into Wednesday night's FlyYorke extravaganza. After all, the Turkish vocalist/DJ, Ahu appeared on Lotus' "RobertaFlack," while "To Love's" producer Paul White might be the most kindred spirit to the Low End outside of Lincoln Heights. Dropping records on both the lionization-worthy London imprint One-Handed Music and Stones Throw, White is a first-rate Dilla disciple. Other producers jack the unquantized drums and the soul loops, but harness neither the emotionalism nor the eclecticism (or the fact that Dilla was resolutely opposed to isms, save for [...]

Ahu - To: Love. (Dimlite Remix)
In honor of the upcoming Sunsplash Festival in Turkey, Ahu , a female DJ out of Istanbul has hit the mix to provide a pretty incredible collection of instrumental music. Ahu can be found holding down her weekly radio show in Istanbul, or on her regular spot over at RBMA Radio . And if I am not mistaken, she is also a well respected singer, going by the name of Dolly. Anyway, the mix features tons of notable artists including Bibio, Kode 9, James Pants, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and more. Sunsplash will be host to artists [...]
The original version of Ahu’s To: Love. is a beautiful, ghostly Paul White production in which mournful synths and a skittering beat offer Ahu a backdrop for her song of the joys of heartache. Now... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]
Paul White gives neo-soul singer Bilal's Robots the remix treatment, opting out of using samples to faithfully capture the song's title. And One-Handed Music continue with the reworkings theme, Tightface stepping up to stamp his signature on Ahu's To: Love. .

I absolutely love it when love hits my in-box! This love is in the form of Label Love Vol. 2 , a project spawn from One-Handed Music , where they join forces with other independent labels to put tunes together that are either community staples, or previously unreleased. This eclectic collection of tunes feature some of our favored independent labels - Melting Pot , Ninja Tune , One-Handed , Plug [...]

Here we are with the second round of Label Love, which includes material from artists signed to Tru Thoughts, Plug Research, Ubiquity, Ninja Tune. and others. Vol.1 had a bit more of a jazzy vibe but this installment is smooth, but more upbeat. And this one is extra special because it features our friends Sonnymoon who recently signed to Plug Research. 74 Miles Away is a collaboration between Brussels jazz pianist Pierre Anckaert and the production team of MonkeyRobot. Two b3sci fav's Ahu and Miles Bonny add some smooth, melt in the mix vocals to the track. The tones on Anckaert's Fender Rhodes are just beautiful. They frame the track, providing just the right bit of structure and compliment to the tune's otherwise vast vocal and instrumental arrangements. Bonny really shines. 74 Miles Away - Same Dream Again feat. AHU & Miles Bonny via laid-back BE [...]

Ahu 's sultry debut single, To: Love , will be available everywhere September 13th on One Handed Music . The label just put the single up on her bandcamp today, and I'm really getting into the baroque-tinted Dimlite remix. This is a stunning entrance to an exceptional debut album. You can buy the entire single on her bandcamp for less than ₤2. Ahu - To: Love. To: Love. (Dimlite Remix) by Ahu

Printempo They're Polish. They sometimes sound like a spritlier and more percussion based version of Portico Quartet but also from time to time they hear like an exaggerated beat combined with oddly melded and glitched orchestra, worthy of no-one else but themselves and Proffessor Calculus' pendulum. I'm not sure how easy it is to break out of the Polish Downtempo scene and into the wild but large surroundings, I'm not even suggesting we help them, but maybe we could just take some deep refreshing breaths and admire their creations from afar.
