by Tiana Feng Aidan Knight released an EP titled Telecommunicate . It is based on the true story of Robin Van Helsum aka "Forest Boy" who convinced everybody he lived in the woods for 5 years. However it was quickly discovered as false and Robin ran away again. Here's a Wikpedia page on Robin. Telecommunicate by Aidan Knight

The Besnard Lakes are making an early play for next year's Prism Prize with their super trippy (and flippy) video for "People of the Sticks", from Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO . What to take away from this? Don't take candy with Jace Lasek's face on it from bald, overly bearded men in white suits. Started off CMW on March 21st with a noon showcase presented by CBC Music at the Church of the Holy Trinity . I was very excited for this showcase and how I managed to get up this early is beyond me! Playing at the church: • Aidan Knight • Folly & The Hunter This showcase was hosted by CBC Radio 3 host [...]

Aidan Knight: photo by Michael Ligon In past years, I'd normally take the Friday off from work just in case I had to recover from a late Thursday night during Canadian Musicfest but this year I was working. That I work in downtown Toronto worked to my advantage as I am down the street from Church Of The Holy Trinity which was featuring noon time sets on a few days during the festival. The noon time sets were hosted by CBC Music. I took a later lunch than usual and [...]

Hannah Georgas will be returning to Toronto on February 1st, 2013 at the Virgin Mobile Mod Club . Her latest album Robotic made it into our Top 20 Albums of 2012 list. Also on the bill is singer-songwriter Aidan Knight so it should be a night of some very good music. Tickets are available for $15 via Live Nation , Rotate This! and Soundscapes. Thanks to Live Nation, Ride the Tempo is also giving away a pair of tickets to two lucky winners. [...]
Victoria B.C. based singer-songwriter Aidan Knight returns with Small Reveal – the follow-up to his 2010 debut full-length, Versicolour. While Versicolour was more austere, Small Reveal finds Knight with a full band, The Friendly Friends (Colin Nealis, Olivier Clements, David Barry, and Julia Wakal), who bring a much fuller sound to his music. Small Reveal has a hazy and baroque-folk-pop quality that adds rich layers to Knight's thoughtful songwriting. Notable tracks include: the atmospheric opener “Dream Team”, the melancholy ballad “The Master’s Call”, the twinkling carefree single "A Mirror", and the somber closer “Margaret Downe.” All-in-all, Small Reveal [...]

I am definitely getting there! Here is my " Best of " 2012 list. This time counting down the Canadian Albums from #40 to #31. For the Top 12 Canadian albums, it will be broadcast on my radio show in New Year's Eve. Sorry if there is no description on the albums because I have been very busy for the month of December. Check it out! 40. Nü Sensae - Sundowning [...]

I'll be honest with you. I've mentally checked out for the remainder of '12. I've listened to almost nothing but Tom Waits and Shotgun Jimmie for the last week or so, and the contentedness I get from listening to music for fun, not for content is liberating. That being said, two new records keep creeping back into the mix, for completely different reasons. The first, Aidan Knight's Small Reveal , is a dark, sensual mood piece that shows a maturation in subject and sound from the Victoria charmer. The [...]
And on the fourth day... I still bring you even more of the songs that rocked my world in 2012. Are they're all good. Here's the skinny: I'm giving you the 75 songs, split into five collections of 15 songs each, that soundtracked the year for me. There will be a post a day this week from Monday to Friday (You can click back to Monday's post to get the first part, Tuesday's post for part 2, and Wednesday's post part 3) , and you can collection them all to get a pretty awesome [...]
![[Folk Rock] Aidan Knight – A Mirror](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4681790_lg.jpg)
Canadian singer-songwriter Aidan Knight carries with him not only his soft, smooth, unassuming vocals and the lovely organic tones of an acoustic guitar. His music, such as on "A Mirror," blooms with such robust instrumentation — somber horns, trickling piano, moody strings — making for not only a touching track, but a truly colorful and stimulating sonic experience. There are quiet moments, uplifting peaks, and everything in between. Treat your ears to something good this evening... "A Mirror" is off Aidan Knight's sophomore album, Small Reveal , out now on [...]

Absent for a month and indeed, sorry for that. But here we are now: the fall has descended upon the Ozarks and year 30 has dropped into my lap. Let me admit some things. I will admit that I have not written since early October. I will admit that I have not listened to music - not a mixtape in my car, not a snuck secular jam in my office, not a handcrafted playlist in my home - in more than a month. I will admit that it's likely due to a combination of the weather [...]

Canadian experimental folk artist, Aidan Knight, and his quintet of the same name released their second full-length album October 23rd, Knight's 26th birthday. The Victoria based ensemble's release, "Small Reveal", sheds light on a certain form of unique talent that is lost among many modern artists. "Small Release" takes the listener on a journey through a variety of lives and perspectives, from failed marriage ballads to the longing for love by a shy grocery store clerk. The depth of each story in the saga takes hold of the heart strings and grips one into a stupor of mind-engulfing fascination. [...]
At the end of a long day, besides actually crawling into bed and drifting off to sleep, my favourite moment of the day is when I stand in front of the bathroom mirror, take a deep, cleansing breath, and take my contact lenses out of my eyes. The sensation is fleeting, ephemeral, but the moment those synthetic discs detach from my eyeball, it's like a I'm seeing the world with a new perspective, a fresh sense of the familiar world around me. A similar sensation settles over me with the playing of Small Reveal , the new [...]

Aidan Knight's "Small Reveal" Cover Art Aidan Knight released his new album Small Reveal just yesterday and I fell short on letting you know in good time. So here I am with a song from it to let you know that it is now out and well worth your time. The album is 11 tracks (3 interludes) of down tempo folk with just enough atmosphere to keep it of the beaten track and reward those that take the time. My favourite songs are both the opening opus Dream Team and the closing [...]
