What do you get when ethereal sounding synth leads collide with classic funky bass grooves? I haven't quite figured it out, but I'm pretty sure you get this awesome new jam by Brooklyn-based producer Aimes . This indie dance gem provides us with some chill Nu Disco vibes, while still managing to keep the energy high, and killer vocals with a tastefully executed pop music feel. I also want to take note of how dope Chordashian's remix of this track is. Perfect music for the beautiful Spring weather happening lately, enjoy friends! [...]

Yesterday Brooklyn based Indie-SynthWave artist Aimes released his new single 'Step Away'. A slick Indie-Disco affair with reMix duties from Chordashian . 'Step Away' is a nice mix of Indie and Disco with Aimes' Chillwave leaning dreamy sheen. Funking slap bass and slick Disco licks play about amongst the lush retro synths with a restudy that it;s hard not to move to. Over the top of this is some surprising Bryan Ferry-esque vocals, sung with weird emphasis but perfectly fitting for the groove of the track. It's one for lazy days in the city, in [...]

'Crash, bang, thud' go experimental pop outfit Zambri 's loud arrangements. Sisters Cristi Jo and Jessica Zambri surely spent many a rainy afternoon as children drumming incessantly on anything around them as their music is partially defined by their large scale percussion sections. Underneath the punishingly thumped drums lie dark, sinister synth arpeggios and wicked pop melodies, which blend together beautifully on their debut album "House of Baasa," an accomplished and truly original piece among the recent flood of New York electronic records. The sisterhood will headline the Deli's B.E.A.F. Electronic Stage at Brooklyn Bowl on Wednesday [...]

Jazzy pop hip-hop produced by Aim. Cute quirky summer tune.
Genre: Deep House. Darkroom Tales released by Oliver Deutschmann on Label Aim, include Tristen Edit.

In an era in which a new record label launches seemingly every day, it can take a few releases for any imprint to get noticed at all while it finds its footing. Not only did Aim catch the ears of a crucial audience with its first release - by Oskar Offermann & Moomin - the label went on to serve up a fully formed aesthetic in the records that followed. Chalk that up to founder Tristen's forethought and clarity of purpose, which privileged an intimate, homespun sound extrapolated across house and techno EPs. Despite being a producer in his own [...]

[Aim] Oliver Deutschmann, purveyor of techno-tinged house (or is it the other way around?), is not the likeliest name to see on Berlin label Aim, thus far home to quiet, Smallville-esque nocturnal deep house. Deutschmann's first solo release for the label marks the start of a new series cataloged with "X" - no other information given - appropriately enough, because it's pretty damn far removed from previous Aim efforts by Oskar Offermann or OCP. The first thing that [...]
Brooklyn based purveyor of introspective retro Pop Aimes has just revealed his reMix of Teeel 's Triangle Waves'. He's given it an energy boost and delivered a really quality slice of vintage electronic Pop. The original version of 'Triangle Waves' was the lead track on Teeel's 'Amulet', a mid-tempo, almost SynthWavey, example of post-Chillwave ElectroPop, all analog synths and distant vocals. It was a good tune, but Aimes has made it even better. Drawing on both the current wave of Indie-ElectroPop, with it's catchy '80's electronic Soul reference points, and bits of Italo and [...]

The Association of Independent Music is a trade organization established in 1999 that represents all levels of the UK's indie music industry from individuals to large labels. Though AIM does focus on the UK, they also produce material of use to folks in the States, for example, The AIM Journal that currently appears twice a year with articles of interest to any business-oriented indie artist. The Autumn 2011 issue of The AIM Journal was recently released and it's available as a free download as are previous [...]
[ Aim ] Going into Delta City with no prior knowledge other than that it was the newest release on emergent deep house label Aim, my first thought that was these sounded like somewhat more polite, restrained (read: Aim-esque) takes on raw house a la another suddenly-everywhere Italian outfit The Analogue Cops. Lo and behold, a quick Google search revealed OCP to in fact be another alias for the charismatic duo of Marieu and [...]

As T-Pain's Lily Allen-sampling/Wiz Khalifa-featuring hit "5 O'Clock" hovers just outside the Top 10 (at #11) on the Hot 100, the tracklist for the Florida MC's upcoming album Revolver (out December 6) has been unveiled. Included are songs we've recently heard from the Auto Tune legend, such as "Drowning Again" , "Nuthin'" (listed as a bonus track) and "Best Love Song" . But, good news, Breezy fans — Brown appears on not one, but two tracks here on Revolver . See T's the full list of jams [...]

E - Part Four of H.A.T.E by Akribi So you thought the year was over? That there would be no more Sofia-songs to enjoy? Well you thought wrong. As a special treat we still have "E - Part Four of H.A.TE" coming up December 1st like an early Christmas gift. I'm so happy to tell you that the last EP of the H.A.T.E saga is being recorded by Swedish band Akribi , who is the first band in the project to have a female singer (and she's pretty damn [...]

Even though Aman Ellis has been busy with the release of his latest effort The Cacti EP, Vol. 2 , the Brooklyn producer has found time to create music for his disco-oriented sideproject AIMES . Check out AIMES' bootleg of Cerrone 's 1982 hit "Back Track," which slows the original jam down a bit and really dives deep into a funky groove. Here is the original track: <embed height="350" width="425" src=" http://widgets.vodpod.com/w/vi deo_embed/Video.15547502" flashvars="&rel=0&border=0&" wmode="transparent" allowscriptaccess="never" type="application/x-shockwave- flash"

After growing up surrounded by hip-hop, in my late teens I moved to a place where underground hip-hop heads were scarce, and I primarily had to rely on myself to find under-the-radar emcees and producers. Without much in the form of exterior stimulation, I used mixes as a way to listen closer to new musical finds. I made a number of mixes in the tape era, but with the first CD-burner I purchased in '98 or so, hip-hop mixes for myself became routine. They were quickly assembled and provided with no tracklist; simply labeled in numeric order starting with "Mix [...]
