This is a column I've been wanting to start for a long time . . . and a very different column in the life of Ripple Effect. In my office right now I'm looking at more than 1,000 pieces of 7" vinyl. Some I know, like The Stranglers or The Angels, but most are entirely random. Couldn't recite a name for ya if I wanted to. See, near me is a cool record store that has a stock of nearly 10,000 45's. There are huge bins of them, haphazardly placed for the price of [...]

Some songs just creep back into your daily mixes and Air Traffic always seems to consistently do that. Occasionally, its standard to check back in with the bands you love since you never know when something new is on the horizon. Unfortunately, today I realized Air Traffic has broken up according to their official site : To our Loyal fans, We are taking a break from being a band for a while to try other things. To everyone who ever helped us, thank you. To everyone who supported us, we wouldn't exist [...]

Air Traffic Piano-heavy pop-rock anyone? Two albums I've been dipping in and out of on my iPod this week come from Bournemouth band Air Traffic and Colorado rockers The Fray. The former released their debut album Fractured Life in 2007, which featured the hit singles "Charlotte", "Never Even Told Me Her Name", "Shooting Star", "No More Running Away" and the piano-laden "Empty Spaces" (included below), which demonstrates lead singer Chris Wall's falsetto voice perfectly. [...]

"Sometimes I feel like they [Radiohead] cleared a path with a machete, and we came afterward and put up a strip mall." –Chris Martin Air Traffic is your girlfriend's next favorite band. They're infectiously poppy and fall into the Radiohead-lite category along with Keane, Coldplay, Muse, and the like. Honestly, they're probably just one Twilight soundtrack or Stephenie Meyer cosign away from American teenybopper hysteria. And if you know anything about me, you know of my unabashed Radiohead elitism and general music snobbery. Hell, I own a shirt that reads "I listen to bands [...]

I'm moving to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in about a month and I've just about realized that I'm going to miss this amazing city. From the wonderful friends I made here to all the great gigs - trust me, there will be many things to miss (not including the weather). But there are also things to look forward to in Rio. I'll be able to go to the beach during the winter and, who knows, maybe I'll even have the opportunity to catch Little Joy playing close to house. Before I move though, I'll be attending [...]

I feel like Air Traffic are the kind of group that could both be picked up for the soundtrack of some lavish car commercial and/ or played on the iPod of some hipster who drank way too much the night before. Their new demo, "Ambulate", seems to be melancholy but motivating at the same time, kind of a clash of "that" underlying sadness/ feel-good vibe. Whichever you decide to take sides with, I'm sure you'll enjoy this chillacious tune. Air Traffic - Ambulate Beats™ [...]

AIR TRAFFIC No more Brit dedik, anasayfa Ada doldu. Kaderin bir oyunu mu? Misal, Air Traffic . EMI'dan yayınlanmış 1 albümlerini taze dinledim. Şirketin Coldplay'e benzeyin (bkz: Shooting Star ) baskılarına maruz kalmamak için sanırım bağımsızlıklarını ilan etmişler. Artık istediğimiz müziği yapıp gönlümüzce paylaşabilicez oley! açıklaması sonrası ilk örnek. Ambulate

Air Traffic has described this transition as A Blank Canvas. Chris Wall (pianist/vocalist) explains on the band's blog: Bit of news... Hello, Couple of things: Firstly, in case you don't already know, we are no longer with EMI Records. Don't panic. It sounds a bit frightening but it's the most liberated we've been creatively since signing to the label three years ago, and it gives us the chance to make the next album something we really want it to be. It also removes all the legal shit that surrounds every [...]

If you've been watching college basketball this past weekend or have even been caught channel surfing past CBS, you may have seen a Miller Lite Commercial featuring one of MUF's favorite groups from 2008, Air Traffic . The commercial features a group of 20-somethings getting ready for a wedding in a parking lot by tailgating with a few brewskis before heading into church. Sounds normal right? The song in this commercial is only an instrumental version, but the popular UK rockers actually had their song "Charlotte" used in this commercial We highly recommend checking out [...]

Tidings to everyone. Still trying to figure things out with this blog as I've been increasingly swamped. However, here's a little mixtape to hold you over for the time being. It's a bit of a journey through life, love, and more from the perspective of Francis, an outsider sent to observe human interaction in order to better understand the human experience. Yes. Zip File 01. Tyler James - Don't Leave 02. Air Traffic [...]

Joanna Newsom is a classical/folk singer/songwriter from California who brings an extremely unique quality to her music, with the use of Celtic harp. At the start of her career, she toured with one of my favourite artists, Devendra Banhart , and made her self known across the UK. This song is one of Joanna's singles from her The Milk-Eyed Mender album. The wonderful video, that is paired so nicely with the music, was directed by Terri Timely who has also done videos for Modest Mouse and Air Traffic . [...]
The Top of the Top list, "Love More Than Music," will be up in a few days, and then, following it, will come my "favorite of the year" post. So stay tuned! Here's this part: Love More (<3) Pacific UV - Longplay 2 My buddy JJ once explained to me, when I asked what this band sounded like before he introduced me to them around the time their first one came out, that this band sounds like Explosions in the Sky and Death Cab For Cutie mixed. [...]

OK. So Air Traffic have been around a while now, but it's still surprising me how few people seem to have heard of them. So just in case you're one of them, here's a look at what you've been missing. Air Traffic are Chris Wall, David Jordan, Jim Maddock and Tom Pritchard , four lads from Bournemouth who's debut album Fractured Life peaked at number 42 in the album chart and really should have caused much more of a stir than it did. Piano led, guitar driven indie rock, [...]

I love Koko in London - some of my favourite gigs of the year have taken place there ( Stars , Air Traffic and Death Cab to list three - I also caught Tegan and Sara and Delays there, but didn't write a review). They're upping their game a bit, and have released some quick "highlights" programmes if you will - below is the Gossip @ Koko, or if guitar rock is more your sorta thing then catch The Enemy here . Black [...]
