I didn't exactly stick around to get an intimate understanding of the atmosphere, but the 48 hours that I spent there in 2005, stranded outside of Alabama with a broken-down shortbus and 5 cranky band dudes didn't exactly make me want to revisit any time soon. Dillon Hodges just released his debut full-length album, Rumspringa, but don't let that fool you into thinking he's the new kid on the block. A gifted guitar player, the singer/songwriter won 14 flat-picking competitions (some national) before he was old enough to vote. Posting now from Birmingham , The Magic City (not to be confused with the location of the same name in my native Atlanta), somehow wrangled here to attend / provide commentary on a southeastern Tecmo Super Bowl tournament. Yes you read that correctly, legions of people (an astounding dozen or so) are descending upon Birmingham, Alabama to see who is best at an original NES game, using players and teams from the 1991-1992 NFL Season .
