Yikes! Summer is passing by faster than a swift kick from Crystal Castles' Alice Glass . A few more weeks and the kids will be off to school, Slip 'N Slides will be rolled up and tossed in the garage, and neighborhood pools across the country will close shop 'til next year. But it isn't over yet! There's still time to do all those fun activities you said you'd do when summer came along, but never got around to doing (I've been meaning to build a raft and float down the Chicago River for the past 5 summers). As [...]
This afternoon, thousands of music fans will make their way to Chicago's Union park for the sixth edition of Pitchfork Music Festival . As Consequence of Sound is partly based in Chicago, having a festival in our own backyard is a really big deal for us. Needless to say our coverage of the fest will be top notch! But for those of you who won't be able to make it to Pitchfork, our Friday Mixtape has arrived just in time to make sure everyone receives a little extra somethin' this weekend. [...]
If you thought the concept album was a dying breed, let us introduce you to the Alan Cohen Experience. The Boston band's newest album, Space & Time (out August 31 on FamJam Records), was inspired by Stephen Hawking's book A Brief History Of Time. It wouldn't be our first inclination, but Cohen was inspired to write [...]

Alan Cohen shook your world in 2008 with the ultimate ode to the then president-elect (Senator) Barack Obama with his intense dance track "The Obama Groove". In 2009, he took us on a journey back in time with one of the greatest hippie rock albums since Country Joe & The Fish, the Experience's EP Eat The Peace . So where should a guy go when politics have faded away into the popular culture oblivion? Well, how about THE oblivion. Or how about the entire solar system for that matter? [...]
Its seems like more and more emails pile up in the ol' CoS mailbox everyday. Of course, while this is bad news for us (the work day just keeps getting longer and lonnnnggeer), it's good news for you. Said emails often include links and streams to the week's best new singles, remixes, and covers, and, because more emails means more links and stream, the length of our weekly Friday Mixtape also seems to growing beyond our wildest imagination. See, I told you it was good news... for you! Enjoy! (I'm going to now go and answer more emails). [...]
![Alan Cohen Experience: Eat The Peace [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2097939_lg.jpg)
There isn't much you could say about a group like Alan Cohen Experience that wouldn't be bloody obvious after a quick listen to Alan and his orchestra's latest experiment, Eat The Peace . This is piano-laced and hippie-friendly southern driven rock and roll that also parallels Phish at their happiest moments. It's happy-go-lucky storytelling about every free-loving individualist's favorite subjects: peace, love, train rides, and truck drivers. The lava lamp torch should instantly be passed down to Mr. Cohen. Any given track on Eat The [...]

GET EXPERIENCED: Listening to the new EP from the Alan Cohen Experience , I find my reaction to the album can be summed up with one word. " Fun. " ... Its fun like seeing all your eclectic friends together at a party. Each song on the Alan Cohen Experience (ACExp) draws from a different inspiration. Everybody walks to the beat of their own drummer. On this one, you've got your funk, a few flavors of rock, a little country western and "Saturday Morning" actually sounds a little like [...]

Earlier this year (back here in March), I wrote about The Alan Cohen Experience 's album Revolutions . Well, Alan and crew are back with a brand new self-titled six track EP that came out a few weeks ago. While lacking any big name historical figures like the last album's Nelson Mandella, Che Guevara, or Fidel Castro, the EP carries on in the same musical vein, appropriating historical events and presenting them in offbeat ways. Alan was kind enough to take the time to tell me about the first track of the EP, Elephant . [...]

Written by Fense Alan Cohen Experience came to me about a year ago when I was sent the group's debut LP. Now they've got a new EP and a little political ditty. So, it's fitting that this feature goes up today, November 4, the day we will vote a new man into office. Along with Cohen, I sure hope Obama is the man the country chooses. So, before I go any further, let me say this: if you're in the states, please go vote (I can only hope you'll vote for Obama, [...]

Why Obama is a series of guest essays by musicians and authors, where they share their support for Democratic United States presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama and offer arguments why he needs to be elected president of the United States. Alan Cohen records music as the The Alan Cohen Experience . The band's self-titled EP will be released on October 28th. In his own words, here is Alan Cohen's Why Obama essay : A pop culture phenomenon [...]
