![Exclusive: Feenixpawl release ‘Sirius’ ahead of Summer Tour [Free Download]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4943424_lg.jpg)
If you've ever been to a sporting event you've heard "Sirius," the iconic The Alan Parsons Project song that came to define the sound of sports stadiums the world over. In anticipation of their summer tour, Feenixpawl have released their rendition of the anthemic track - adding four-to-the-floor beat and modern big room spin to the classic arrangement. Complementing the original's bustling melody, the Australian duo add a significant jolt of electro house energy amidst a flurry of stadium-friendly synth stabs. Feenixpawl's modernized "Sirius" has already been used by the Chicago Bulls and is available now for free [...]
It's the week before Noise Pop, so you might think "lemme get some rest," but no! The world of live music in the Bay Area will never let you rest. Get out there and see some shows, because the band that wrote the best song ever is playing this week, and local heroes are [...] The post Spinning Platters Weekly Guide to Bay Area Concerts, 2/21/13-2/27/13 appeared first on Spinning Platters .
Tonight is the end of Daylight Savings Time, a ritual that is still odd to me. I grew up in one of two small areas in the US that didn't kowtow to The Man on the issue of Daylight Savings Time. Aside from some time in Southeast Asia, I was into my twenties before I ever moved a clock forward or set one back. I let time do its thing. Then, I was suddenly a forced participant in this national game of Hokey Pokey with a chronological twist. Now, after weeks of adjusting [...]

It was during 1982 that I first began purchasing music on an ongoing basis. I was hindered by the nearest actual record stores being fifty miles away and me and my buddies being thirteen-, fourteen-year old kids with little money and no driver's licenses. Those circumstances had conspired to keep my music collection to two-dozen or so cassettes as the first chilly mornings of autumn arrived that year. (a significant portion of that collection courtesy of Columbia Record & Tape Club) I doubt that I was aware of the [...]

We haven't really posted many edits recently but this one's really useful for all you DJs! Mammagamma's a class track but the end is so abrupt that there's no real mix point, so this is a real gem. It doesn't do much - loops the intro, extends the outro and adds some very subtle touches to the track but it means you can actually use it for djing rather than it sounding odd when it gets to the end. 320k download available as well.

I have never negotiated a hostage release. I am not a surgeon awaiting word that an organ needed for me to perform a transplant is on ice. Those are two of a cornucopia of reasons that I didn't bother getting a cellphone until two years ago. The phone I have is basic, a mere conveyance for telecommunication that would have been an impressive device in a '70s sci-fi flick from my childhood. It would have still wowed us when I was in college and Gordon Gekko had a mobile phone the size [...]

Nothing like a little Wednesday Alan Parsons to seriously up the dweeb quotient of your week. Whatever your viewpoint on this kind of AOR slickness, you have to give them credit for keeping some genuine funkiness in what could've been the stiffest of studio products. Props to them also for providing the timeless soundtrack for starting lineup announcements at NBA games. Having enjoyed a satisfying Knicks victory up close last night (and, wow, the Toronto Raptors need not only good players, but also a name change), I'm also feeling these guys [...]

I am a big fan of progressive and psychedelic music - Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree - but never really researched it enough to get to know many more bands than what I've listed. However, I am tired of listening to the same old stuff, so I want to discover more bands from this genre. Help me, Captain Awesome! Anvith *** Anvith, Not a problem my awesome friend. I must admit, I've never actually heard of Porcupine Tree, but I am a huge [...]
Since the signing with Sony Records, the ASAP Mob has been blowing up the hip hop world. A$AP Rocky has been absolutely killing it, and his whole crew is emerging as true talents. This past week, A$AP Twlevy released two hot tracks via his twitter "12 Unleashed" and "A.S.A.P. Bullshit". "12 Unleashed" was spit over a variation of Young Buck's - "Get Buck", while "A.S.A.P. Bullshit" was over another variation of the Alan Parsons Project - "Sirius", better known as the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordans 90's walkout song. These beats are unreal [...]

What happened to the Justice we came to know and love on the Parisian duo’s 2007 debut album? Well, Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay have decided to shift from driving, bassy grooves that blend the intensity of techno with the heft of heavy metal to a more melodic, song-oriented approach that’s more dreamy than danceable, and apparently influenced by '70s art rock. They also enlisted some impressive guest vocalists, including Vincent Vendetta from Midnight Juggernauts , and Morgan Phalen of Diamond Nights . We caught up with [...]

The autumn of 1981 was the first time that the radio was the first thing I turned on in the morning and the last thing turned off at night. Q102 would air the Top Ten At Ten weeknights at the titular hour, so a lot of nights I'd leave the radio on, listening well after they'd finished counting down the day's most requested songs. The station was the station for most of my junior high classmates and the previous evening's countdown usually merited at least a few minutes discussion and debate the following day. [...]

Ah Betty ... how could you? Just a few weeks ago we were all bothered about yet another female celebrity caught naked, after someone hacked into her private cellphone stash. I still can't figure what's the problem - she took the pictures herself and obviously wanted somebody besides herself to see them (or else she could have just used a mirror to look at her own ass). Maybe she doesn't want us all to see these photos; maybe she just doesn't want us all to see these photos for free. Maybe she would rather [...]
One cold New York City night in January 2009, I found myself in the back room of the Bowery Poetry Club, encircled by the typical PBR-wielding twenty-somethings and some of the most magical music I’ve ever encountered. By wandering in to find shelter from the shivering chill, I had unknowingly stumbled upon the EP release [...]

Download : Alan Parsons Project - Be Like You (Young Edits Dance Mix) by KEEPREAL Creative Label - Visual & Musical www.keepreal.org Alan Parsons Project - Be Like You (Young Edits Dance Mix)

An edit of a kool tune from one of my all time favourite bands, Alan Parsons Project. I prefer this version over The Twelves remix of the same song. And the cover of the album for APP was shot in that terminal 7 or whatever in Paris Charles de Gaulle that has those really retro futuristic escalator tubes... That's we're we always travel home from when coming from Paris. MP3 Alan Parsons Project - I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You (Young Edits Dance Mix) (320K) (ge.tt)

' Young edits ' is the side project of brisbane based producing dynamo ' youth '. Armed with a studio full of hardware and skills beyond his years, youth creates proper house music, and is a name quickly becoming synonymous with ingenious takes on dance floor classics and next level skills. Youth's take on the Alan Parsons Project's cult single ' be like you ' is dope to say the least. Just wait for the 303 to drop at 2:50. An amazing back catalogue of gems available on his soundy . Here is a also a [...]
The What-ing What Project? Never, perhaps, has a figure in rock music been simultaneously so famous and so … anonymous. Alan Parsons, after all, was engineer on Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and Paul McCartney’s Red Rose Speedway; producer for the Hollies’ “The Air That I Breathe,” Pilot’s “Magic” and Al Stewart’s “Year of the Cat,” among others;
