Last month, Retribution Gospel Choir, the trio led by Low frontman Alan Sparhawk, released their free-download The Revolution EP. Today, we get the video for their song "The Stone (Revolution!)," which turns out to be a pretty funny look at what might happen if the group indulged some unlikely marching-band ambitions. Sparhawk himself directs. Watch it below. Read More...
Michael Gira and friends return with a two-disc album.
When he isn't busy with his main band Low, Alan Sparhawk also leads a slightly more rocked-up side project called Retribution Gospel Choir. Today, the band release a free new EP called The Revolution . Its four breezy songs fly by in 10 minutes, and it's a fun listen. Use the widget below to download it. Read More...
Retribution Gospel Choir, the more-strummy side project of Low's Alan Sparhawk, has released a new EP. Titled The Revolution -- not a Prince thing -- the four tracks gather some great vintage rock re
Low frontman Alan Sparhawk's other band gives away its new EP.
The Great American Music Hall hosted Low and one-woman-band Bachelorette on a warm summer evening in San Francisco.

[Here we'll look at some things you probably passed up when you were a kid because you were too busy playing Star Wars with your friend who was actually a jerk… and who threw a tantrum when you schooled him in NHL '96. What a little bitch. There are roots in the ground that still nurture.] Long Division Low Vernon Yard, 1995 Produced by Kramer Words by Christopher Carosi [...]

Low 's return is very welcome. The four years since Drums and Guns is the longest gap between albums for the husband/wife/bassist trio, and the wait has emphasised that there's really no-one else out there like Low. From the first chords of the first song of C'mon there's no mistaking their sound, and little point in resisting the lure of their downtempo world. Low - C'mon Opening track 'Try to Sleep' sets the pace for the whole album, [...]

Minnesotalaisen slowcore-trio Low:n yhdeksäs albumi C'mon ilmestyy 11. huhtikuuta Sub Popin kautta. Ensimmäisenä maistiaisena toimii koskettavasti laulettu, hitaasti kiiruhtava avauskappale Try To Sleep .

Waarom heb ik twee exemplaren van Kerouac's On The Road? En waarom heb [...]
The unrelenting sonic assault began with a cover of Low's "Breaker" and didn't let up until the encore.

Toronto - I've seen Low a couple of times now and while I definitely enjoyed them, I will admit that I got a little bored during their sets. In fact, Low was a band I didn't pay that much attention to until I happened to catch the brilliant documentary Low-You May Need A Murderer , more a portrait of singer Alan Sparhawk and his own set of beliefs and opinions than a straight band documentary. After that I became a full on fan and was excited to see what they would do next. I also discovered Sparhawk's [...]
Retribution Gospel Choir - Hide It Away A bit of a belter from Sparhawk. Retribution Gospel Choir is the 'other' band by Low's singer (as well as their bassist) and this track is from 2 , their second album. It's poppy yet visceral, and you can download the track for free here . MySpace Pre-order Photo by Kim Valmer , licensed under Creative Commons
