Alanis BB! You oughtta know how to shed those extra pounds! Isn't it ironic that ur going on a run even though ur body is TOTALLY BANGIN? Srsly tho, I haven't ran outdoors in a very long time. First of all, I get winded very easily, so the most I can do is a swift power walk. Also, last time I ran I passed out bc the weather was 100 degrees. I was LITERALLY passed out, baking in the sun. I could smell my lard burning. It was EMBARASSING, then they called [...]

The 80s revivalists are up for Best Pop Band at the SDMAs Follow Owl and Bear on Facebook and Twitter for contests, MP3s, and links that don't make it onto the blog.

OK, Thanksgiving can begin. I have had my traditional Thanksgiving Day listen to Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant. You may remember last year's post . I'll try not to repeat myself this year. You know, it's funny; I can read something I wrote a year ago and not even recognize it. It's like someone else wrote it. I mean, I recognize the style and the stories, but I have no recollection of having written it. Probably senility on the way right? Song 2 (no, not Blur's overplayed ditty) on this day is fitting. One of my all [...]

Britney Spears covered Alanis' Morrisette's 90s break-up anthem "You Oughta Know" in Greensboro, NC over the weekend. An unbelievably enthusiastic fan captured it in all it's Dave Coulier-clawing glory. Sources who attended Britney's recent outing at MSG came home convinced she was lip-syncing. Tough to call on this one, but she sounds pretty okay. You know, for Britney

The Nocturnes are quick to demolish ideas of Chopin and wistful pianos—by the end of the first song "I Love the Lighthouse Keeper," 1970s prog rock is clearly a better fit than the 19th century. Non-standard time signatures and abrupt shifts and some unexpected use of synthesizers are all constants on this album, but their aesthetic extends beyond that genre, too. For a duo consisting of Emma Ruth Rundle and Daniel Yasmin, they pack a lot of different sounds into A Year of Spring . Think Sonic Youth, Zeppelin, and maybe even a dirtier, less classical-minded My Brightest Diamond, [...]

Completamente conquistato dall'ultimo lavoro discografico di Alanis Morisette , sono felice di presentarvi "Not as we", secondo singolo struggente estratto da "Flavors of Entanglement". Un brano bellissimo, che vi presentiamo in formato live per le Aol Sessions . Da vedere e da ascoltare. La dolcezza di un brano struggente in un live fedelissimo all'originale registrato in studio. Uno dei brani migliori dell'album. Ottima scelta.
MGMT on Live From Abbey Road I've read plenty of talk that MGMT are fantastic on record, but horrible on stage. I have no idea personally, as I haven't seen them live just yet (hope to catch them with Beck in September). Still, they seem on top of things in this live session last week for Sundance Channel's 'Live From Abbey Road' series, at any rate. The series is actually pretty amusing to me, in the sense that it sometimes mixes some pretty disparate acts together (I [...]
John McCain, is fucking idiot, there are no two ways about it. Anyone who repeatedly refers to a nation called Czechoslovakia is a bozo and it is a masterpiece of the sheer catatonic passivity of the American press, as well as a nod to the audacity of Republican Party dialogue hijacking, that Obama is the one being doubted because of some imaginary relative weakness in areas of foreign policy. In terms of being a weapons grade global irony whirlwind, on the other hand, the video below deliverys a valedictory masterclass from McCain. I haven't [...]
I'm a little late on this one, I know, but this is really the sort of video you need a day or two to absorb fully. Almost 24 hours after I first saw it, I have to say it's still damn funny; not only the video, but the fact that Alanis Morisette has become a viral phenomenon. I never thought I'd see the day. Alanis Morisette - My [...]

I swear that most people hate Valentine's Day - which is awkward, seeing how it's supposed to be all about the love and romance. Anyways, since I don't want to turn this into just another terse rant on the commercialized Hallmark holiday, I've coupled my apathetic hatred for Feb. 14 with my love for a five song mix/post that my dear friend Emily concocted last Valentine's Day. This great five song mix dealing with Valentine's Day deserves no other name than the: Five-Point-Palm Exploding Heart Technique Mix . Enjoy! [...]
