Alberta Cross is a New York-based band, formed by Petter Ericson Stakee (vocals, guitar) & Terry Wolfers (bass). Despite their different upbringings - Stakee travelled from an early age between Sweden and England with his singer-songwriter father, whilst Wolfers was brought up in London's East End - they formed what would later become Alberta Cross. After relocating to Brooklyn, New York, Stakee and Wolfers solidified the line-up with the addition of Austin Beede, Alec Higgins and Sam Kearney. Yesterday (7/19) saw the release of Portugal. The Man 's first major label release, ' In The Mountain in the Cloud' . The band have announced dates for a world tour in support of the new album. Set to embark on the extensive jaunt on August 5 in Chicago, the band are set to play dates in several major cities including Los Angeles, New York, London, and Paris. I was at Bonnaroo a couple weekends ago and found out about Alberta Cross on the drive down. My first thought was, "Why the hell did my friends not tell me about them sooner?" and my second thought was, "They are going to be incredible live". Oh, Bonnaroo . You do it to us every time. Year by year, over 80,000 people make the pilgrimage to a field in the middle of nowhere, Tennessee to camp for four days in the blistering heat with little to no refuge and more dust than anyone should be able to handle. That sounds kinda miserable, right? How then, you might ask, did Bonnaroo make it to this, their 10th year?
