We now have another song off of Alex Ebert's much anticipated solo project! A Million Years is a classic Ebert/Edward Sharpe feel with a very cheery melody that throws me into a world of riding on horses through a desert. I seriously feel like i'm in my own world where at night we'd sit around a little campfire, leaning on a tree stump or fallen trunk singing this as a group while eating beans out of a can. I love this feeling! Seriously though, great song with great instrumentals and standard, awesome vocals; don't pass on this track! [...]
Monday, January 31, 2011 Today's Quick Mention: Don't forget that Deerhoof is playing the Mohawk tomorrow night. That's a pretty great venue to experience the band's experimental ways, so I highly recommend going. Tickets are $13. Music on Monday. Enjoy. : Peter Bjorn And John - Second Chance : I'm beginning to think these guys are underappreciated. Most people only associate them with a whistle-filled indie pop tune, but over the course of (what will soon be) six [...]

After skipping out on December, I almost was gonna do the same for January, but I've been hit by a train of good music lately, so I thought I'd share a few of the tracks that have been dominating my headphones this month. Expanding through a couple different genres there should be something here for everyone. Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros' very own Alexander Ebert is going solo. He's going by the name Alexander , and is releasing his self titled debut album March 1st on Community Music (via Vagrant ). You can hear two songs from the album right now. "Truth" starts off like a lonely journey through a dry desert plane but soon spreads it wings towards various genres. It's available to download for free right now. The second is the warm "Million Years". It's available to stream right after "Truth". Both tracks are solid offerings that [...]

This seems odd to be posting as I just posted a stream of "Million Years" this morning from the upcoming self-titled album from Alexander, the solo project of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros frontman Alex Ebert, but when someone spills the beans that there's more to be heard, I just can't help myself. Especially since I had a pretty good feeling that this would be a pretty feel good album, and the perfect thing to bring some excitement into an otherwise lazy Saturday afternoon. Alexander goes through a series of ups and downs [...]

Alexander Ebert, lead singer of Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, will be releasing his debut solo album Alexander on March 1st via Community Music (RoughTrade will release the album in Europe on February 28th). The album will include ten brand new songs that Alexander wrote and composed entirely himself. The track-list for the album can be found below. Before this album, all of the music he worked [...]

If you don't know by now that I'm a sucker for anything Alex Ebert related, whether it be Eddie Sharpe and the Zeros or Ima Robot or now his solo project under the name Alexander, well, now you know, even though you should have before. With the Alexander solo album being released on March 1 and a new Edward Sharpe album allegedly being released this summer, there's certainly a shitload of inspiring musical awesomeness to look forward to. And perhaps what's most inspiring about the Alexander album is that Ebert was responsible for every recorded guitar chord, drum [...]

The self-titled solo album from Alexander Ebert of the wonderful Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros will be released on the 1st March on Community Music (via Vagrant) and on 28th February via Rough Trade. The album consists of ten brand new songs that Alexander wrote and composed entirely himself while touring with his main band. Alone in his room, he had his guitar, a Lowery organ he picked up at a St. Vincent’s thrift store in Los Angeles for seventy bucks, a clarinet he used for the bridge on the record’s first single, [...]

Alexander Ebert, the lead singer of Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, will be releasing his debut solo album ‘Alexander’ on 11th April 2011 through Rough Trade. The album will include ten brand new songs that Alexander wrote and played entirely himself. Of the project he comments, “I wanted to be able to build an album basically with my hands, like building a house by myself. To me, it’s a very humble album with sky’s-the-limit sort of qualities, and so I didn’t shy away from doing whatever I felt like doing.” [...]
First single from Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes.

I hate getting up early to get a workout in before my work day begins but today I was glad that I made it out the door because on my way back home this lovely piece of music made it's way through my speakers. This is another new track from Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros from his solo album. We've all been hearing "Truth" for quite sometime now and finally get to place a new sound with this album. "A Million Years" stays with Ebert's minimalist approach that he so loves. The [...]

Alex Ebert may not be a household name but once we say "You know, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros' frontman", it's sure to be followed by an "Oh, that guy". Yup that guy. During breaks with the band Alex has been toying around with every instrument that he can find and recorded his first solo album which will be due on March 1st on Community Music. "Truth" has been out for quite some time but there was never an album to go with it, it just...well...was. Have no fear though, Alex doesn't intend to let the rest [...]
