Keith Musil and Alexandra Hope collaborated on a music video for Hecuba's "La Musica," off the group's most recent album, Paradise. Twin kitties received instruction from Hope on capturing Isabelle Albuquerque's dance moves and added their own feline twist. Perhaps Albuquerque will adopt the "lick your nose" step. This isn't just a coupla cats dancing. Details [...]

The Buzz Bands-hosted party certainly isn't the only show in town tonight, but, well, for selfish reasons I will tout it first. It's a night of great guitar rock at the Echoplex — doors open at 8:30, with the Broken Remotes playing at 9, Amusement Parks of Fire at 10, the Lassie Foundation [pictured last week at the Viper Room] at 11 and Magic Mirror at 12, with one of my favorite DJs-about-town, Ana Calderon, spinning music in between sets. Watch my Twitter (@krbronson) for an announcement this afternoon about [...]
Gangi will be playing their final May residency at Spaceland tonight so we are lifting this interview out of our recent archives. The vinyl version of their album A is almost out and they are already working on the follow-up Gun Show , with a title track that sounds like T. Rex and Funkadelic together in three minutes. They speak here months before when issues of toxic mold were much more on their minds. This interview by Chris Ziegler.
The Polyamorous Affair make bolshevik disco-pop in a mossy compound in Los Feliz and emerge only to teach kindergarten, play shows or get snowed on. They have an album due on Manimal and co-founder Eddie Chacon used to be in a band with Cliff Burton. This interview by Dan Collins.
Warpaint. EXITMUSIC. VOICEsVOICEs. Alexandra Hope.In truth, that is all that needs to be said about tomorrow's show at The Smell for this is a lineup that needs no introduction by us or anybody. Simply put, this musical gathering represents four bands at the forefront of L.A.'s new world order of ethereal post-rock. Not that any of these bands actually know or care about such a movement. They're

Unusually, I've got something current for this 'songs matching days of the week' thing I keep trotting out; very handy really, since I've been meaning to share some Alexandra Hope after first hearing her a few days ago. These two tracks have a deliberate high quality demo feel about 'em, no bass at all (same as the rest of the album, I gather), just busy guitar, occasional ivory tinkles, & tight drums. I'm very taken with Alexandra, no doubt about that, but I do wonder if the production style will stretch enough to hold interest over all [...]
