Well I've decided to be deliciously random today. Random Facts About This Side of the Mouth 1. My favorite color is green. 2. Brad is my good friend. 3. I am on my third iPod. 4. I like to read. 5. I'm really not wearing any pants right now. Random Facts About the Other Side of the Mouth 1. His shoes kind of all look the same. [...]

Alexi Murdoch - Orange Sky The idea of an mp3 blog, from what I can gather, is to post songs that are good. Or at least songs that you like. Or maybe just songs you think other people should hear. But what about a song you think people should hear (if they haven't already, which would probably be unlikely for reasons we'll get to in a moment) but you don't necessarily think is good? United Kingdom Alexi Murdoch is as dreamy as they come in every way â€" lyricist, vocalist, musician. The slow, acoustic style is not usually my thing, but this is too good to resist. Time Without Consequence will for sure make your ears happy if you fancy artists like Jose Gonzalez . "Love You More" Alexi Murdoch on [...]

You probably have heard Alexi’s song Orange Sky before, whether from this Blog or one of the countless movies and TV shows it has been in. Why is it used so often? It is a great song, performed with honesty and true emotion. But there is more to Alexi than that song. All of the comparisons to Nick Drake make sense, as his guitar playing and vocal phrasings are strikingly similar. The one place where I hope they don’t go down in history together is suicide. He recently played at World Café Live for a Free [...]

There's a good chance that you're already familiar with British singer/songwriter Alexi Murdoch. His music has been featured in Garden State (though not on the soundtrack), The OC, Dawson's Creek, Prison Break, a Honda Element commercial, and a Hallmark commercial. This past June, Alexi released Time Without Consequence on his own Zero Summer label. "Orange Sky" and "Breathe" can both be found on this cd. "Orange Sky" is a six minute sad strummer that first appeared on his debut release, The Four Songs ep released in 2002. When you listen to this one you'll [...]
