Oh dear Alexi and your consistently inspiring lyrical madness. Each time you show us a Good Side of Bad , it seems impossible to be even more impressed than the last time. Yes, Alexipharmic is back with a brand new batch of highly intelligent hip hop based words to beat that are guaranteed to make you think as much as you are sure to dance. Although the high pitched glory of his full fledged album American Beauty has long and disappeared into the depths of history, our man brought back that same spirit to [...]
Probably the many noted times I've said that my relationship with Hip Hop was a waning, disassociated one, I pretty much was referring to this generation's hip hop scene where its all about money and materialism which gets boring for a music snob like myself. I don't want to hear about how much money is in your bank account or what luxury cars that you own or how many STDs you have from the many
Being a slacker, I humbly present you with stuff I couldn't get to this week, and beg your forgiveness: Cr: Ryan Lewis Alexipharmic, Good Side of Bad: Vol. 3 Summer In Nuclear Winter This is the new extended EP from Washington hip hop artist Alexipharmic. The smooth, intelligent raps were inspired by a month-long trip that Alexipharmic took to Kenya. During the journey he got a firsthand

Well, due to hectic-ness here at the hill as of late (some of the hectic-ness is of the very welcome variety ), we've been hitting you with plenty of one & done style posts. Well, I wanted to try and get in a post that involved more music for you fine folks, and since none of my semi-regular features contain more music than BOX!, and because it's been a while since the last one, BOX! it is. I think we've got a good one for you, so enjoy. [...]

photo: FL4Y We've got sent some stuff over the past couple of weeks that I'm really behind on posting, which I'm sorry for. I should make more of an effort to post the music as it comes into us but it's been a busy couple of weeks at college. First track is called "Stardust" and is by Alexipharmic featuring P.O.S. , Grynch , Cas One and Sarah Smalley. The production and rapping on this are very good and [...]
I love rap music. As a blonde haired, blue eyed girl who usually reads children's books and classical literature I don't quite fit the general rap music mold, but nonetheless the way a really good rapper will sync their words to the smooth pounding rhythm of the backbeat really sinks into my bones. I think [...]
Everything I learned about how to be a good rapper I learned from the song "Dr. Carter" by Lil' Wayne. And when I listen to Alexipharmic , that whole issue of "weak flow" Weezy talked about comes to mind. Alexipharmic is probably a legit dude, based on the messages he's trying to get out with his lyrics, but he needs more originality, rhythms that don't drag behind the beats and tone that doesn't sound like a white college guy who learned how to make decent backing tracks.
An abundance of email means that today's edition of Funky Friday is hot promo action a-go-go. We've got remixes, re-edits, old school and new school - something for everyone. And because I've been listening to Duran Duran all day I hereby declare this part of Funky Friday a "Night Version Special" - two of my fave DD 12" remixes ever for your bass-in-the-face fix. It's nice out, there's lot to read on the site, and festival season is now in full swing. In other words, there's too much going for me to waste your time with an introduction for this week's Friday Mixtape. So, let me just get on with it and present you with this week's mix of the best new singles, remixes, and covers, along with mp3s from some up-and-comers you just might want to check out. NEW Singles: "Stardust" by Alexipharmic "Smoke Bros" by [...]

Alexipharmic is a dope hip-hop artist with a story to tell, or should I say stories? Yea, stories! On this album, * American Beauty *, he combines the stories of people in which he met while on a 30 state tour with his own personal experiences & creates something so powerful, something with so much depth. His choice of beats, slightly unorthodoxed flow & bright perspective is definitely refreshing to my ears. I always say that just because something is different does not mean it's good, but this is damn great! This album is inspirational [...]
Alexipharmic is new to my radar.

Alexipharmic creates songs that seem to feel and breath a complete sense of impervious reality. You can drink his words like a fine scotch, or absorb them without discretion like a tall glass of PBR. His label debut American Beauty is the accumulative effort to reflect on the past years filled with oppression and unnecessary hatred. But this album also reflects upon the hope and promise this highly talented MC has always deemed not only possible to create a greater nation, but absolutely necessary. Alexipharmic's songs are [...]

Normally I do these on Fridays, but this past week was a nightmare, so the proper amount of time to put this together just wasn't there. Thankfully, today is a holiday so I've finally got the time to sit down and crank this out...and here it is. It's a little late, but hey there's still 12 hours left of your three day weekend to download and enjoy the tunes and there's always the rest of the week as well. So I'm going to quit my yacking and just say, "download away." Oh...and Go Magic!! Happy Bank [...]

I was truly inspired by Alexipharmic when I introduced him a couple weeks ago . Get to know him a bit more with this exclusive Qs. Describe Alexipharmic in 3 words… Peace.Love.Respect. How many instruments to do you play? I play the vocal chords like nobody's business… Worst live show experience? At The Abbey in Chicago, there were 200 people in the audience for me when I was the opening act. During the set, about half of them turned around [...]
Alexipharmic's third self released album, Good Side of Bad Vol. 2, is another demonstration of the selfless embodiment this "conscious" artist has never failed to portray. His brutally honest view of the struggle and pain of those uncared for in this nation of ours is as compassionate as it is lyrically dramatic. At first listen, [...]
My relationship with Hip Hop at present is a strained one at that knowing quite well that today's Hip Hop tends to be dipped in plastic and having either little to no soul within its core structure. I mean come on guys; you can only say 'bitches, cars, nikes, skateboards, Ice Creams, BAPE and money' soooo many times before someone says 'shut the Fuck up!'Alexipharmic is not one that falls into

Born & raised in Port Angeles, WA, before moving to L.A., Alexipharmic immersed himself in the world of hip-hop va Yo! MTV Raps & cassettes of 2pac, Nas, & Biggie, before picking up the pen at 13 & working to forge his own path. That journey has led him to slam poetry showcases at the fanous Project Blowed, performances with musical icons Jurassic 5, Visionaries, One.Be.Lo, Sleep, Sweatshop Union, C-Rayz Walz, Vakill, & Grayskull, among others, & spearheading the national Save Darfur Tour . Behind of all the musical aspirations is a compulsion to use the music as [...]
Regular readers will undoubtedly have noticed that we don't cover a lot of hip hop here. However, once in a while there's an artist that comes around with something different that warrants talking about. Alexipharmic and his new album American Beauty is one of those artists. The Pacific Northwest is not a place you would expect to stumble across a socially conscious rapper. But that's the roots
