Okay, it was taken with my camera phone in a darkened room….so I'm not going to be the next....I don't know any famous still life photographers. The head phones and the book are gifts from my wife, the headphones cover my whole ear (as opposed to sitting on top of my ear) so I can wear them for hours on end. The book I haven't read yet but it's next on the list. In honor of the book Alice in Chains - Junkhead
I'm talking about the song Brother, arguably…no it IS the best song ever produced by Alice in Chains. Give it a Listen These guys made a pretty good lip synching video for the song. crater7187

![LAYNE STALEY DIED SIX YEARS AGO TODAY… [SATURDAY SONGS TO (DIE OR) GET STONED TO]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/994465_lg.jpg)
Layne Staley died 6 years ago today of a heroin overdose and his rotting corpse was found 2 weeks later. What a sad way for a talented singer, frontman, and one of the most influential men of late '80s / early '90s metal and grunge to go. Meditate on that as you listen to these tracks and smoke your Saturday afternoon bowl. R.I.P. Layne Staley. (August 22, 1967 - ca. April 5, 2002) -VN Alice in Chains - "Bleed the Freak" ( Facelift ) Alice in Chains - "Dam [...]
This is a fitting way to start another week off right. Back to work after a long but eventful weekend. Amy, Hailey, and I spent the weekend up in beautiful Minneapolis, Minnestoa visiting friends we haven't seen in quite awhile. We walked around Uptown, went record shopping, watched the kids play, drank some Surly beer, toured the city's lakes, listened to the Once soundtrack, enjoyed a real happy hour, drank some good bourbon, and more. I'll definitely have to move the Twin Cities to my short list. MP3 | [...]
The greatest song of all time (?) may be only available for a 30 days or so. Depending on if I log into my "fileden" account regularly or not. We is takking aboot Alice in Chains - "Them Bones" Just remember that the singer is dead when you listen to this 7/8 ( mostly - except for the chorus ) tune .
. What is Hangar 18? I quote from Ear Farm : Behold, ladies and gentlemen, the first season of Hangar 18: the Bloggers v. Rockers Fantasy Football League. This league pits six bloggers ( My Old Kentucky Blog , Gorilla Vs. Bear , Ear Farm , ninebullets , Indie Interviews , and I Guess I'm Floating ) against six musicians ( Tapes N Tapes , Vicious Vicious , Margot & The Nuclear So & So's , The Muggabears , Arizona , and Mancino ) [...]

Vancouver peeps? Tonight we're hosting our weekly party "The Pissing Match" at The Bourbon on West Cordova, come down and say hi. Myspace us for guest list. Alice In Chains are officially back performing again with new front-man, William DuVall filling in for the deceased Layne Staley. This track was sampled by Versus' faves Bonde Do Role in their track Melo Do Tobacco, who just happen to be coming into town on Tuesday. This will leave us with just enough time to sober up from the Mad Decent Man himself, Diplo and [...]
So I know that Lindsay Lohan's arrest was a while ago, but that doesn't mean I can't put together a playlist of all the best songs about cocaine, right? Besides, if this article is to be believed, she might not even be charged with cocaine possession. But, as with all things gossip related, you should probably take that with a massive grain of salt. Here now are songs about cocaine use, for you fascist fashionistas and hallow-eyed party-goers. Enjoy! Download: WASP - "Cocaine Cowboys" [...]
Argh, so many songs for this theme! I apologize if this is too many, but I managed to pare it down to....okay, I didn't pare it down much at all. CANINES New Wave pirate/highwayman/dandy Adam Ant 's Dog Eat Dog is typical of his early sound, especially the throbbing "Burundi beat" (African-derived drums). This is probably one of my favorites of his. [ Buy 'Kings of the Wild Frontier" ] Gyroscope 's [...]

Okay. This thing has been on the internets for over a month. Admittedly, I am really slow on all things Ryan Adams and generally when another blog makes mention of Ryan I just scan down to the next entry. However, I heard about an awesome cover of Alice in Chains , Down in a Hole floating around and decided to check it out. In my opinion Down in a Hole was the best song Alice in Chains ever did. I found an entry about it on You Ain't No Picasso but it's link [...]

I've had these two tracks in my 'bsides' folder for ages now. After a bit of research, it turns out they're not bsides at all - they're tracks from the Last Action Hero soundtrack. Huh. I can't say I remember hearing Alice In Chains during that movie, but I can't say I was paying close attention either. Regardless, enjoy some cuts from the decent soundtrack of an awful movie. Alice In Chains - A Little Bitter Alice In Chains - What The Hell Have I

Moderate apologies for the punny picture (I couldn't resist), but I nearly fell out of my chair the other night when I read reports that Ryan Adams had spiced up his Kingston, NY set with an acoustic cover of Alice in Chains ' "Down In A Hole." AIC? No one covers AIC, but they had a proprietary chunk of my musical heart back in 1993 when I first started to get into, shall we say, decent music. Before AIC and Pearl Jam I was trapped in a world of [...]

From CNN.com : Angry crowds in several Indian cities burned effigies of Richard Gere on Monday after he swept a popular Bollywood actress into his arms and kissed her several times during an AIDS-awareness event. Photographs of the 57-year-old actor embracing Shilpa Shetty and kissing her on the cheek at an HIV/AIDS awareness event in New Delhi were splashed across Monday's front pages in India -- a country where sex and public displays of affection are largely taboo. In Mumbai, members of the right-wing Hindu nationalist [...]

April 5th is a really hard day for me musically every year. There are two big reasons exactly why that is, and if you're a big 90s music fan then you should immediately understand. April 5th marks the deaths of the lead singers of my two absolute favorite grunge bands: Nirvana and Alice in Chains. First, let's go back to 1994: After an overdose of champagne and rohypnol in early March, Courtney Love begins to think that Kurt tried to kill himself. A few weeks later, Courtney once [...]

Contrast Podcast #20 's theme was, "This One Goes Out To...." I was too chicken to send anything in, so here is my measly tribute to the person I would have dedicated the song to: my sister, Juliette. Despite being younger than me, she knew more about music and lyrics than I did. I credit her with being one of the most influential people in my musical life. Why, if it weren't for her, this blog wouldn't exist today (mainly because I write to entertain her at work). I'm not worthy! I'm not [...]
