Another nice boost of publicity for The Voice: Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera are just two of the names (and the two biggest ones at that) who will perform at the Michael Forever tribute concert on October 8 in Wales. The other performers — well — it's a weird bunch. According to TMZ , Smokey Robinson will also perform at the event, and that makes sense to us. Legendary performer, spoke at Michael's funeral, close with the Jackson family - we're on board. Then there's Leona Lewis, JLS [...]

Alien Ant Farm and Me Talk Pretty are in the middle of a national tour with several sold out shows. This Saturday, they played the Gramercy Theatre in New York City . Our photographer Patrick Eves ( HippieDeathBed.com was there to get photos of both bands in action. Check them out inside.

Remember Alien Ant Farm ? Yep, they had a big hit in 2001 with their cover of "Smooth Criminal." They had a few modest successes but have generally not been seen around for a while (they broke up in 2007 but have since re-formed). Now they're coming back to play Richmond Mechanicsville as part of their ANTicipation tour, stopping at Cullen's Cove tonight. I'll be honest and say that it feels very weird to see a band that had national level status come through Richmond and not even play at one [...]
Author/Wine Connoisseur Gary Vaynerchuk pairs his favorite cover song with a nice white wine. Not to be missed.

I just watched the new Karate Kid film. As well as being pleasantly surprised that it was better than a sack of shit and playing out like a tourist information film for China, there were some odd long shots on statues/pictures of Mao, it also reminded me of this: It's a brilliant song! That middle(ish) segment with Mr. Miyagi is fantastic and all of the movie lampoons are played out pretty well. Hell, for a music video, it's pretty prophetic, even seeing the [...]

Here, last Friday was a bit good, wasn't it? The place was totally rammed. One of the busiest nights of the year so far, and everyone was bang up for partying. The turning point was when the Soulwax remix of MGMT 'Kids' was dropped. People seemed to be up for a good dance at that point, and it turned into more or less a full on rave for a while. I loved how many people were up for giving it stacks, especially Laura and Conor (pictured above) who danced like champions in [...]

Welcome back, readers! Looks like the toxicology and autopsy reports on Michael Jackson are taking forever a nd I, for one, need to take a break from the lovefest that was my month-long MJ tribute (read: here , here , here and here !). With MJ on the mind, it's been hard to think of other musicians, so hopefully this Pop Punk Miscellany piece will serve as [...]

Every so often an event comes along that is so powerful/epic/moving/tragic people never forget where they were when it happened/they heard. JFK's assassination is one. 9/11 is another. I have a feeling that news of Michael Jackson's death might be another for many. Nobody I can think of has affected as many people around the world. Over the past 2 weeks we have seen and heard a lot of tributes to MJ and today I wanted to give mine. I've gathered some of my favorite MJ remixes and covers here and will mix in a few memories of my own [...]

I was never a big fan of Michael Jackson , however nobody can deny the fact that he kept us entertained in many ways - both intentionally and not so much. Anyway, today's Under The Covers is dedicated to the great Moonwalker. R.I.P. Jacko, you will be missed. Fall Out Boy feat. John Mayer - Beat It (Michael Jackson cover) Ian Brown - Thriller (Michael Jackson cover) Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal (Michael Jackson cover) [...]

Well, it was inevitable, wasn't it? I had another Friday Five with a really great theme ready to go, but then last night's news broke and I figured everyone would end up talking about this anyway. So with a startled 'Yip!' and a hearfelt 'Shamone!' here's your Friday Five: 1. What's your earliest memory of Michael Jackson as a performer? 2. The media is making a great deal of the trilogy of albums Jackson made with Quincy Jones; Off The Wall , Thriller and Bad . Words such [...]

As I cycled home from work tonight my neighbours were just finishing up a barbeque that was made possible by the excellent Irish weather. I politely accepted their generous offer of a glass of wine and took a seat beside them. "Did you hear that Michael Jackson died?" was not the first question that I expected to be asked. I had seen a comment on Facebook earlier that alluded to his death, but I didn't pay it any mind. Another neighbour came out of her house holding a bottle of Bud in one hand and an Off The Wall CD [...]

In 2001 Bell moved to San Diego. Over Labor Day Weekend I drove down with Band Guy and Ricky so we could go explore the city with her. At the time I was the only one with a fake ID and it had only worked once before. In Chico (pretty much if you can stand over the bar they served you back in the day). Needless to say it worked and I kept the troops in supplies for a while :) So, it was a gorgeous weekend, we had a blast and then we had to drive the eight hours [...]
Well... happy friggin' new year, everyone. We gots some catchin' up to do. As Dillinger Escape Plan fans may have heard by now, the band has hired some dude no one has ever heard of, Billy Rymer from The Rivalry, to replace Gil Sharone, who, in turn, replaced founding drummer Chris Pennie for 2007's orgasm-inducing Ire [...]

I'd imagine the marketing meeting for the new vocal technique DVD The Art of Screaming went down something like this: Marketing Exec 1 : This new DVD The Art of Screaming is going to be a big hit! Gangbusters! Kids just love screaming in music these days. Marketing Exec 2 : It's amazing! We'll rope in the guy with the reverse-mohawk from Alien Ant Farm... That'll really get the kids on board! Intern (quitely, from corner): Umm... You guys, you know, [...]
