Geoff Geis is one active man. He has a tendency to move AND shake. If you might better know him from his part in wierdo rockers Pizza! and pop heart throbs Big Whup . He also writes for Sean Carnage , LA RECORD and FMLY ! His most recent project is a little bit more personal. The tape Princess is striped to Geoff's soul. It's playful, touching and leaves space for breathing. The album carries a lot of diverse ranges and is a true exploration of the self. The album comes out [...]

Our very much admired LA dude Allister Izenberg returns with a new tune that sets sail into very promising new spheres: While his free Lonesome EP (introduced back in July ) was a reduced piece with sparse instrumentation drenched in that certain kind of timid intimacy experienced by a lonely young boy in the huge metropolis, Golden Girl is significantly more mature, showing a remarkable shift regarding songwriting craft as well as sequencing and producing. The song features a very catchy guitar/sampled string section and Allister's signature falsetto-leaning voice, adding up to a [...]
Labor Day weekend is filled with musical adventures in the Bay Area... Including two of the very, very few worthwhile summer shed shows that seem to be timed out perfectly for the weather getting good. Here are the highlights: Thursday, September 2nd Jenny & Johnny, Sonny & The Sunsets, Farmer Dave Scherr at Great American [...]

Alongside Trips and Falls, who ended up on Song, by Toad Records because of it, this is one of the briefest, most awkward promotional emails I have ever received. It pretty much said, in all caps, 'I have an EP. Listen to it. Here.' Oddly enough, that kind of uncomfortable introduction often bodes far, far better than a slick, well-formatted PR email and so, once again, it proved in this case. I know when something is flavour of the month it is tempting to hear it everywhere, but I hear a lot of similarities to Perfume [...]

My brother heads off today, so I figured we'd take one last chance to do a podcast while we can. This is mostly new stuff and inbox though, so I am not sure how he'll react. Actually, he was in the room last week while I went through my inbox, played stuff, replied to emails, deleted things, and so on and so forth. I think his response was that he simply wouldn't be able to handle the avalanche of shit I have to get through, and that it would simply turn him off music completely. I [...]

Allister Izenberg Mr. Allister Izenberg was generous enough to throw me his new self-released EP entitled “Lonesome” last week, and I’ve had some time to ruminate on it. And it’s a strange animal indeed. Like a meek and mild pop author, Allister whimpers his dark, and yet somehow very living songs. He mentions the Beatles when he references influences, and it can actually be heard. Listening to Van Dyke Parks you’d swear there was a sleepier version of Daniel Rosen (from Grizzly [...]

Thank you to those that have made the last year so magical. Thank you, Come again is now one year old and we've had a blast doing it. You can check out pictures from our anniversary here . If you haven't been yet, it's every second Saturday of the month in Mary Hotchkiss Park in Santa Monica. The purpose of this event is to strip a concert experience to its birthday suit. We have a performer in their most vulnerable state, an audience, and communal activities for all! Nothing will be handled but good vibes. Remember [...]

Allister Izenberg is another young artist living in Los Angeles, and though we know now that California is situated on the best coast and living there is so much easier than, say, living in New York, apparently this fact doesn't prevent every resident from feeling a certain amount of emptiness. Izenberg seems to belong to the latter kind. He has produced an EP bluntly entitled Lonesome , and loneliness is indeed the prevailing sentiment, dripping out of almost every single note of the four song piece. Izenberg's fragile voice, the songs' vulnerable intimacy and sparse instrumentation [...]
