Although Oklahoma City lost to the Heat in the 2012 NBA Finals, and fucking LeBron got his ring, I wanted to make this mix to celebrate my favorite basketball team. So this is for the scoring champ KD, the block king Serge Ibaka, yung fashion himself Russy Westbrook, the Swizz defender Thabo Sefolosha, King Tut aka Kendrick Perkins, secret weapon Nick Collison, and everyone who makes the Thunder the best team in the NBA (fuck the outcome, I believe this) and the most fun team to watch IN THE WORLD! Check out all 15 tracks on NRBW/OKC Thunder's June [...]
Revisiting this joint has been manna the past few weeks. If you missed it the first time around, Almighty Defenders is the unholy union of King Khan, Mark Sultan and the Black Lips. A different sort of gospel. MP3: The Almighty Defenders :: I'm Coming Home

This is a very quiet time of the year when it comes to new music. Most major bands don’t start releasing material until February or March, so January can be seen as a reflective time. 20112s Top 50 list took me quite a while to finish, but I must say that I’m pretty happy with it overall. Now I find myself wondering what I should be looking forward to in 2012. If the Mayans are to be believed, the world shall be ending sometime in late December. This only leaves 11 more months of new music until mankind is lost [...]

When I fell backwards over the railings at the Green Door Store last night, screaming Derek Holland , I had this mix in my mind. Dance to this shit, motherfuckers! 01 Bob Dylan - Sittin' On A Barbed Wire Fence 02 Almighty Defenders - The Ghost With The Most 03 Lafayette Thomas - The Thing 04 The Growlers - Camino Muerto 05 Bazooka - I Wanna Fuck All The Girls In My School 06 Flight - Witch [...]

Well, we're just about halfway with the reposts... Today, we feature volumes 9 and 10, which were originally posted in August 2009. Volume 10 holds a special place in this blog's history, because that's when Aaron from Tsururadio offered to post the mix on his blog. That started a bit of following and it has grown ever since. Aaron's moved onto Tsuruphoto, following his passion for photography. He now has a nudie-zine featuring some edgy but tasteful art, several videos to promote the zine and Tsuruphoto, and the occasional mixtape. We owe a big thanks for his early support, and [...]

2010 was quite a year. It saw graduations, festivals, a move from Athens to Barcelona, the discovery of a new city, a slight, um, slowing down of our blog activity, a World Cup, many flights (17 for me), and a lot of great music. So, without further ado, we present to you: So, how did we compile this rather fantastic list, you ask? Easy, we consulted our trusty last.fm profiles (see the bottom of this page for our individual profiles). We then each chose our top 25 and [...]
Mark Sultan - Status from Daniel Taylor on Vimeo. Mark Sultan's had a year of ups and downs. Released a new album on Metric's Last Gang Records, had a massive drug-fueled meltdown at The Almighty Defender's show, made a tear-wrenching split from King Khan, and so on and so forth. But drama aside, Mark [...]
Mark Sultan and the Black Lips locked down the first night of the 2010 Sled Island Music Festival by preaching the gospel of the Almighty Defenders.

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Canada The Almighty Defenders were looking a little less than, well, mighty when they took the stage of Calgary's Royal Canadian Legion #1 for the first night of Sled Island. King Khan 's decision to skip the gig because of a nasty feud with longtime accomplice Mark Sultan , aka BBQ , may have been well advised, but it was clear that the supergroup, which also features Black Lips and Khan's now-former [...]

Primavera Sound 2010 was one of the best fests I’ve been to in years. Top fun, top bands, top city. After not writing for an age – here’s a monster round up of some of the hottest acts there… Thee Oh Sees One of my favourites as you probably know, Thee Oh Sees were ace face to face. First time I’ve seen them live and I wasn’t disappointed. They played a massive crowd at the Vice stage in the early [...]

There are in fact probably approximately 125+ good reasons (just cast your eye on the tags below) to be excited about Primavera Sound 2010, and if you've already bought a ticket (or are still planning to) you'll probably have your own personal handful. I'll leave you with 14 (below), one for every day until Primavera Sound 2010 kicks off in exactly two weeks time. I don't know about you, but excited doesn't even begin to describe it for me. The lineup truly looks is as if the organisers carefully studied and then booked my last.fm [...]

Atlanta’s unique flower punk band The Black Lips is currently prepping their fifth studio album, which guitarist Ian Saint Pe claims might be released by the end of summer. With two recording sessions out of the way, the band is full on its way to another spectacular record, one described by Saint Pe as including a mix of “garage stuff, punk stuff, and a little of that Atlanta hip-hop”. Wow. Plus, they’re considering embarking on another tour later this fall in support of the new released (assuming it remains on schedule). As Billboard reports, [...]

I am using today's Coachella post to check out another one of the bands that I am not too familiar with: The Almighty Defenders. The AD are a quasi super group of sorts featuring members of the Black Lips And King Khan & The BBQ Show. That's about all I know...here is a tune off of their self-titled 2009 release. * 'Bow Down And Die' MP3

Today's program was composed entirely of albums that were released in the year 2009. The last nine songs on the show constituted my favourite nine releases from 2009. While re-issues were included in the list ( The Beatles Remasters, Nirvana's Bleach 20th Anniversary Edition , and The Vaselines - Enter The Vaselines ), I did not count them in the top nine list, due to the fact that they have already been released prior to 2009. The following are my favourite nine releases from the year 2009: 1. The Black Lips - 200 Million [...]
Today is officially the last last day of 2009 so we thought it would be fitting to release our top songs of the year list. Maybe you can even use them to put a little NYE playlist together. As for me I'll be watching the Flaming Lips cover Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon . Everyone have fun and be safe tonight. See you next year. Goodbye year. Goodbye decade. 50. Silversun Pickups | "Growing Old [...]

The Almighty Defenders - All My Loving It's Christmas week, it's cold and we just need something simple and catchy to sing along to until our blood warms up and the feeling returns to our feet. The Almighty Defenders are a 'sorta supergroup' made up of the Black Lips and the King Khan & BBQ Show, whose self-titled LP of gospel rock is out now on Vice. MySpace Buy Photo by kevindean [...]

We're still doing some house cleaning of our playlists and album reviews for year end. If you been paying attention this week, we're going through the last of our song postings and album reviews before we come clean with our year end lists. Here's some hot tracks we've been meaning to iron out. Of course, we gotta throw a few new wrinkles in to mix it up and keep you guessing which songs will [...]
