While most of the blogosphere has been going totally nutty for all of the rad Hot Chip news coming out, I decided to go another route with my coverage. Sure, I'm super psyched that there is new material floating around, but I'm not going to going to dump more water into an already full pail. Enter Drums Of Death . Having heard that the London monster of mixes was working with Hot Chip dude, Joe Goddard, I've been anxiously waiting to hear the power pals' output. Yesterday, [...]

So I did an experiment. I took a week of from blogging/reading blogs and spent all that time on guitar and my turntables as a little detox. The week is up. It's time to post. PICTURE MUSIK Relating love games to chess with a super pop/electronic sound. I dig. Chess - Alphabeat ~~~~~ MUSIK Her voice. Butter. Last Nite (The Strokes Cover) - Adele [...]
Alphabeat "Chess" Alphabeat have changed significantly on a superficial level, jettisoning all traces of rock from their sound and diving deep into glossy '90s pop, but the core of their project remains the same. Alphabeat are nostalgists, and whether they are lifting from Kenny Loggins or channeling Ace of Base, they draw on the power of songs that present a glamorous fantasy version of ordinary life. As they made clear on "Fascination," their debut single that now more than ever reads like the Alphabeat manifesto, they care deeply about escapism, and in our power [...]

Give It Up To Me - the second single in the US Someone other than Alphabeat also seems to have been studying 90s dance act Snap - parts of Shakira's 'Give It Up To Me' video look so retro it makes us want to break out our best 'big box, little box' moves... classy. We love the dance routine though. 'Give It Up To Me' is the second US single from 'She Wolf', though the track does not appear on the international edition of the album.
"..your magic has got me where I want to be" it's an 80's dance disco remake. i can rock out with this tune at my room. missed alphabeat so bad. thoughts on the video, anyone?
Following on from the amazing lineups of the past two years , the Mencap Little Noise sessions are back again this November to raise more money for the mental disability charity. The lineup is almost complete, with a string of pretty amazing performances scheduled. Personally, I'm most excited about Editors day, along with the pop-tastic Alexandra Burke, Mika and Newton Faulkner days - all of the shows have great talent and with the promise of special guests, I say you should hop on down to Union Chapel to check out some great music. Head [...]
The new single from the Danish popstars is as catchy as anything you'll hear all year. Plus it's way better than a lot of what's in the charts (cough Alexandra Burke cough). Here's the video, thanks to Muzu.tv .
For the group Alphabeat from the UK , the mid-1990s never went out of style and Anthony Michael Hall from the 1980's never grew up. Woah-a-woah-a-woah-oh-oh-oh. Rhythm is a dancer.

Two years ago Alphabeat released an awesome album which paid tribute to the 80s, with an impressive sense of fun and melody. Now the Danish band are back with The Spell , an album that will remind people of my generation their very first parties... Yes, this record is like 1995 is happening all over again. And while it might seem like a very bad idea to bring back Corona and Gala back from the dead, the Fantastic 6 manage to create a brilliant album. [...]

Alphabeat's second album The Spell has leaked. The album is lush with early dance beats in tribute to 90s' house music and just general fun. News is out that the next single from the aforementioned album is DJ. It's a fun sing-along kind of track, which has the potential to be nicely remixed. We can't wait for the video and the sleeve. The sophomore album from pop-gods Alphabeat,"The Spell," is finally upon us!!! The new album dropped last week in their homeland of Denmark, & it drops next month in the UK. (When are these guys coming to the states??) "The Spell" represents a totally new era of sound for Alphabeat, a complete departure from the sugary-sweet 80's bubblegum pop they brought to their classic self-titled 2007 debut. "The Spell," as they've said themselves, is heavily inspired by 90's-dance & pop music, lots of heavy synth, electro-warbling, and pulsing bass: you feel it instantly on the album's title-track and lead [...]

Denmark Dance / Pop / Euro WELCOME BACK ALPHABEAT !! As you may or may not already know, I have a strange obsession with Danish bands which started in 2007 upon hearing Alphabeat's stunning debut record ' This Is Alphabeat [...]

The highly-touted second album from our favorite Danish band Alphabeat has leaked. The Spell takes a different direction in tribute to the great pop sound of early 90s' house music and vocals. The lead single "The Spell" shows just that. The album is supposed to be released November 2nd in the UK. Click here for more info. Ritornano.

Haven't done one of these in a while, and I figure the night that I'm about to run out to the R. Kelly show in New York ( yessss ) is as good a time as any to do so. Also, I am currently in something of a (relative) listening rut, alternating between the Shakira record, my "2009 awesomeness" playlist (now at 32 songs! new additions include Alphabeat and Natalie Imbruglia!), and isolated listens to the new songs/albums that cross my transom. And not much else! So, feel free to plug your favorite music of right now here-there's [...]

Alphabeat have a new single but will it put a spell on us? Is it magical? Are they wizards? Are they more Harry's wand or Dudley's ( FUCK OFF – Everyone who can read ) We loved Alphabeat's last album. The songs were unashamedly happy and catchy. They were cute and cheery and we just wanted to hug them all. We heard rumours about them being dropped and were worried for a while then apparently it turned out they jumped from Charisma Records to Polydor or something so everything was fine. SO, we're thrilled to have them back [...]
Alphabeat's "Fascination" mashed up with Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop." Not earth-shattering or anything, but definitely a nice little kick in the pants for a Thursday morning. [ YouTube via Alphabeat's Twitter ]

Alphabeat will release their new album 'The Spell' November 2nd Forget about eighties-inspired synth pop, it's all about the nineties darling! Glowstick , glowstick , glowstick . No, seriously, get your glowsticks out! Sorry, we got a bit carried away, but, we're not alone; Alphabeat is declaring their love for 90s dance music with their excellent new single ' The Spell ' (out 12th October), and to make it even more special, they've just dropped off a slick 30 minute mixtape that is, in their own words: [...]

"The Spell" is the first song that I have heard from Alphabeat and I am absolutely in love with this Danish group. I missed their first album, but that might be a good thing since the band says they have moved to a new sound. This new sound is a shockingly successful combination of 1990's dance vocals and keyboards combined with the layers of synth that this decade throws into every indie pop song. Alphabeat are releasing their second, four song, studio album in early November. The energy from "The Spell" should keep you excited about this band [...]
